FSU Football Recruiting: Latest Updates on 2015 Commits, Visits and Targets
No. 1 Florida State has consistently been atop the national recruiting rankings ever since Jimbo Fisher took over the program, and the 2015 class has the potential to be one of the program's best.
FSU enters Saturday's game against rival Clemson with the nation's No. 2 recruiting class thanks to 20 verbal commitments from some of the country's best prospects.
With a class already highlighted by the nation's top safety prospect, a trio of elite quarterbacks and recent pledges from one of the top wide receiver and tailback recruits in the country, the 'Noles are rolling on. A win Saturday over the Tigers could give them even more momentum heading into the middle part of the regular season as they battle Alabama for recruiting supremacy.
With several 5 and 4-star uncommitted prospects on their board, Fisher and his staff still have the chance to make an already great class even better.
WR George Campbell

George Campbell, a 4-star wide receiver from East Lake High School (Tarpon Springs, Florida), is Florida State's most recent verbal commitment after he pledged to the 'Noles Sept. 5 in a ceremony at his school. Now, Campbell will get to see his future college in person when he takes an official visit to FSU for Saturday's showdown with Clemson, according to Josh Newberg of 247Sports (subscription required).
Campbell grabbed three passes for 52 yards—including a clutch 31-yard catch on 3rd-and-13—in East Lake's 36-6 victory over Dunedin last Friday. Campbell now has eight catches this season for 123 yards and four rushes for 31 yards.
At 6'3" and 184 pounds, Campbell has terrific size to accompany his athleticism and speed. FSU loses Rashad Greene, Christian Green and Jarred Haggins this offseason, so bringing in a quality young replacement like Campbell is important for the Seminoles this recruiting cycle.
RB Jacques Patrick

Florida State already has a verbal commitment from elite running back Johnny Frasier, but that doesn't mean the reigning national champions are done at that position in this recruiting cycle.
Jacques Patrick, a 4-star prospect, is considered the No. 2 tailback in the entire country, according to the 247Sports composite rankings, and is widely considered to be headed to either FSU or Alabama. Where he winds up on national signing day is yet to be determined, but he will reportedly be in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, per 247Sports' Charles Power (subscription required), this weekend to take in the sights and sounds of the Alabama versus Florida clash.
The Timber Creek (Orlando, Florida) star eclipsed 6,000 yards rushing for his career in a 55-42 victory over East River last week.
Should Patrick eventually choose the Seminoles, the bruising back would help fill the void left by Karlos Williams' graduation this offseason and would give FSU yet another weapon in a running back corps that features young up-and-coming stars Mario Pender and Dalvin Cook.
OL Matthew Burrell
3 of 5
The Seminoles loaded up on quality offensive linemen in the 2014 class, and while they likely won't sign as many this recruiting cycle, the level of elite prospects on the radar hasn't dropped.
Matthew Burrell is one of those recruits FSU is still hot on the trail for, and the Woodbridge, Virginia, native is coming off an official visit to Ohio State last weekend and will next take an official visit to Tallahassee to see the game against Clemson, according to 247Sports' Ryan Bartow (subscription required).
A mauling 6'5", 302-pounder from C.D. Hylton High School, Burrell is considered to be a 4-star prospect and nation's No. 5 offensive guard prospect in the 2015 class.
The 'Noles will lose all five of their starting offensive linemen this offseason, so Burrell would have the opportunity to compete for immediate playing time if he ultimately elects to select FSU over a myriad of other scholarship offers.
QB Deondre Francois
4 of 5
The highest-rated prospect among Florida State's trio of quarterback commitments for the 2015 class, Deondre Francois helped lead IMG Academy to a 61-0 blowout victory over Dillard High School (Fort Lauderdale, Florida) last week.
Francois threw for 205 yards and four touchdowns in that rout and is now 32-for-63 on the young season with 540 total yards and nine scores, according to MaxPreps.com.
Like so many other elite prospects, Francois is expected to be in Tallahassee for the highly-anticipated game between Florida State and Clemson.
DE CeCe Jefferson
5 of 5
A 5-star prospect and one of the top overall players not just in Florida but in the entire country, CeCe Jefferson was expected to visit Tuscaloosa for the matchup between Alabama and Florida on Saturday, but instead he will be in Tallahassee for Florida State and Clemson, according to Charles Power of 247Sports.
Jefferson is a superstar pass-rusher from Baker County High School (Glen Saint Mary, Florida), but according to Chris Hays of the Orlando Sentinel, he is expected to be sidelined two weeks after sustaining a dislocated shoulder in his team's 28-27 loss to Jacksonville Providence last week.
Despite the injury, Jefferson is a big fish in the recruiting world. The 6'2", 250-pound defensive end would add immediate playmaking ability and help a position of need in the 2015 class for Florida State. With Mario Edwards, Jr.'s potential early defection to the NFL this offseason, FSU needs as many impact pass-rushers as possible come national signing day 2015.
Getting Jefferson on campus Saturday for a prime-time matchup is a big deal for the 'Noles.
