Packers' Jordy Nelson Records Franchise's 1st 200-Yard Receiving Game Since 2004

Bleacher Report MilestonesSep 15, 2014

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson had nine catches for 209 yards in Sunday's 31-24 win over the New York Jets, becoming the franchise's first player since Javon Walker in 2004 to record 200 or more receiving yards in one game, per the Packers' official twitter account.

Nelson accounted for all but 137 of his team's 346 receiving yards, with his afternoon highlighted by an 80-yard touchdown grab in the third quarter that broke a 24-24 tie. On the impressive play, he burnt 2013 first-round draft pick Dee Milliner and then cut back inside to avoid a tackle from 2014 first-round pick Calvin Pryor.

With two minutes remaining and the Packers facing a 3rd-and-3 to end the game, Nelson hauled in a 15-yard pass from quarterback Aaron Rodgers, sealing up the victory while eclipsing 200 yards.

Per ESPN Stats & Info, Nelson's 16 targets in the game were the most any player has ever gotten from Rodgers in a single contest.

Nelson's previous career high of 162 receiving yards came in a 45-41 victory over the Detroit Lions in Week 17 of the 2011 season. Rodgers didn't play in that contest, which is still remembered by many as the "Matt Flynn game," as Flynn cashed in with a three-year, $20.5 million contract from the Seattle Seahawks after roasting the Lions for 480 passing yards.

According to pro-football-reference.com's play index, the Packers have had just five 200-yard receiving performances since 1960, with no player accomplishing the feat twice. The team's single-game record of 220 receiving yards was set by Don Beebe in 1996.
