The "Mayhem: Mayweather vs. Maidana 2" undercard is over and the main event is just moments away. You can follow along right here

In the co-featured bout of the evening, IBF super bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz demolished former sparring partner and woefully overmatched challenger Manuel Roman in Round 2.

The end came when Santa Cruz (28-0-1, 16 KO) imploded Roman’s chin with a straight right that left him down and out on the mat, prompting referee Robert Byrd to call a halt to the action.

On the undercard, Mickey Bey scored an upset split-decision victory over Miguel Vazquez to capture the IBF Lightweight Championship in a fight wholly devoid of action.

Scores were 119-109 and 115-113 for Bey and 115-113 for Vazquez.

Bey (21-1-1, 10 KO) and Vazquez (34-4, 13 KO) engaged in an ugly, hard to score and completely unexciting contest over the full 12 rounds. It seemed that the now-former champion was in control of the limited action, but neither man did much to stand out in an ugly affair.

In the opening bout of the evening, unheralded James De La Rosa boxed and moved his way to an upset unanimous-decision victory over former junior middleweight contender Alfredo Angulo.

Scores were 99-89, 98-90 and 96-92 for De La Rosa.

De La Rosa (23-2, 13 KO) set the tone for the fight early, using his speed and movement to pop Angulo from the outside with crisp combinations. A left hook in Round 2 left El Perro sprawled along the ropes and was ruled a knockdown.

Angulo (22-5, 18 KO) seemed to have very little snap on his punches, and he couldn’t figure out ways to cut off the ring and work his offense. It was his third straight defeat, and could well signal the end of his career.
