Tony the Tiger: Should the Mets Make a Move?
Recently, the Diamondbacks decided to cut ties with pinch hitting power hitter Tony Clark to make room for a youngster in their system to get a chance. When the move was made, Clark was hitting just .182 with four homers and 11 RBI. The question is, should the Mets take a flier?
Right now, the Mets bench consists of Santos/Schneider, Tatis/Murphy, Reed/Pagan, and soon to be Angel Berroa (if that is the corresponding move to Argenis Reyes being demoted).
The one source of power in that bunch would probably be Fernando Tatis, who shocked the world when he hit the Mets’ second homer of the inning in yesterday’s 9-7 victory over the Reds.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Clark has always been capable of hitting the ball out of the ball park, but he is clearly on the decline. In 2007, he provided what seemed to be his final burst of power. He clubbed 17 homers while getting just 221 at-bats. Then in ‘08, Clark started to decline, and he posted a very pedestrian three homers and 24 RBI in 151 at-bats.
I kind of like the idea of signing Clark, but only on a minor-league deal. If the Mets can store him in Triple-A for depth, then the move probably make sense, especially seeing how they recently got rid of both Wily Mo Pena and Bobby Kielty.
I doubt this will happen, as Clark probably still believes that he can be a quality bench player on a contender. I would definitely expect in to land somewhere in the National League. If Garrett Atkins is traded from Colorado, that would be a perfect landing spot for Clark, who seemingly loves to play in the NL West.
Honestly, what he does won’t really affect the Mets, but if they give him more than a minor league deal, that would just be downright foolish.
