Mayweather vs. Maidana 2: Weigh-in Date, Start Time and Live Stream for Rematch
On the eve of the biggest boxing match of the year, Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana will take center stage at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas for one more face-off at the weigh-in before the final showdown.
Like a great movie trailer, the weigh-in serves as the last chance for both fighters to sell their bout to anyone on the fence. Granted, Mayweather's insane popularity and how close the first fight in May was ensures a lot of eyeballs.
It also provides an opportunity to see what kind of physical condition Mayweather and Maidana are in, though the two are always at peak shape and enter the ring ready to use all the physical weapons at their disposal.
In anticipation of Friday's huge event, here is all the information to get you set for the second Mayweather-Maidana bout.
Where: MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada
When: Friday, September 12 at 6 p.m. ET
Watch: ESPN, DirecTV Audience Network
Live Stream: Showtime Sports at Sho.com
What The Tape Says
| Fighter | Height | Reach (Inches) |
| Floyd Mayweather (46-0) | 5'8" | 72" |
| Marcos Maidana (35-4) | 5'7" | 69" |
Mayweather has the size and reach advantage over Maidana, which is surprising considering the challenger is known for his prodigious power. You would think that means the length of his arms allows him to keep a distance from opponents.
Instead, Maidana's shorter arms show why he had to be the aggressor early in the first fight and must do it again to have a shot at defeating Mayweather. It's also a double-edge sword for El Chino, since being an attacker plays right into Pretty Boy's strengths.
As Gordon Marino of the Wall Street Journal wrote last September, Mayweather's shoulder-roll style makes it virtually impossible for opponents to land a hard punch against him:
"This technique doesn't tie up a fighter's hands and leaves him in perfect position to return fire.
All sweet scientists know the jab is an offensive and defensive weapon. A boxer uses it to attack and set up the big blows but also to gain separation.
Mayweather said he has 'at least' three different jabs: a regular jab, an up-jab and a punch that his dad tabs the spear jab.
"
That reach came into play during the first fight. Even though Maidana only landed nine fewer punches (221) than Mayweather (230), El Chino needed 858 punches to do so, while Pretty Boy was more efficient by throwing just 426 punches.
On top of that, Mayweather landed an incredible 65 percent of his power punches (178-for-274). Maidana landed eight more power punches but had to throw 266 more to get there.
When you combine Mayweather's reach and punch efficiency, it's hard to see Maidana breaking through the wall that cost him the first time. Unless he's able to keep up the aggressive, early-attacking style that overwhelmed Mayweather in the early rounds, it's going to be another long night.
