Losing to John Cena Would Discount Brock Lesnar's Win over The Undertaker
John Cena is headed for a huge showdown with Brock Lesnar at WWE SummerSlam on Sunday, August 17. The WWE World Heavyweight Championship will be on the line when Cena defends against the man whom he defeated at Extreme Rules back in 2012.
While some fans likely believe that Cena is a lock to go over in this one, the fact is that Lesnar may very well be the one to leave as the new champ. If he does not, then it could discount his WrestleMania 30 win over The Undertaker.
It was a moment that many fans thought they would never see, and one that is still frozen in time. The sight of The Deadman's shoulders getting pinned to the mat by Lesnar is an image that remains very surreal and very unbelievable for much of the WWE faithful.

Taker's undefeated streak at Mania had become the stuff of legend. It was a tradition that was supposed to have continued until the moment that he finally retired. He was to take that unblemished record to the Hall of Fame with him and leave behind a legacy like no other Superstar in WWE history.
The Undertaker's legacy is not in question. But thanks to Lesnar, Undertaker will always have a blemish on his Wrestlemania record.
The man known as The Beast Incarnate may not have been pegged as Taker's eventual destroyer, but that is what he became. And the fact is that it was a perfect choice for many reasons, mostly because he is just such an unlikable character. Lesnar is someone who is able to carry the burden of ending The Phenom's undefeated streak, giving the impression that he just doesn't care.

Lesnar's win over The Undertaker had nothing to do with honor, pride or respect. It was about total destruction and complete domination on Lesnar's part. And that domination came at the expense of The Undertaker, who has still not been seen on WWE programming since he lost at WrestleMania.
The Lesnar that is stepping into the ring on August 17 is the battle-tested war machine that stared the reaper down and did not blink. And now he has set his sights on Cena.
More importantly, Lesnar has set his sights on Cena's WWE World Heavyweight Championship. He has not been a champion in WWE since 2004, and he now has a prime opportunity to regain the gold against the company's greatest Superstar.
And it's a match that he must win.

Right now, Lesnar is known as the man who took out The Undertaker. He is bringing all that heat and the entire spotlight with him, and he will no longer just be Paul Heyman's monster the moment that he steps into the ring with Cena.
He will be the man who beat one legend and now wants to beat another.
The truth is that Lesnar cannot lose against Cena. If he does, then all of the work that went into him at Mania (and the work that Heyman did on his behalf afterward) will have been for nothing. No one had ever been able to best The Deadman at WrestleMania, so the man who eventually did must be considered something special.
How special is he if he loses his very next match? Despite how much time has passed since he pinned The Undertaker, the fact is that Lesnar has been portrayed as a killing machine, as someone with no regrets and no remorse. WWE wants fans to believe that Lesnar is a conqueror and that he has the utmost confidence in himself to take the belt from Cena at SummerSlam.
But if he loses so easily to Cena, then the question will undoubtedly be asked: What was it all for?
Why did Lensar beat one legend to then lose to another? Why did he end the most coveted streak in WWE history, only to then go down in his very next match? Why was Lesnar given the burden of ending The Undertaker's WrestleMania record, only to then lose the very next time he's tested?
If Lesnar can't get it done at SummerSlam, then what was the point of WrestleMania?
The truth is the fans need Lesnar to win on August 17. The same fans that supported The Deadman and then sat in shock as he was pinned at Mania are likely demanding that it all have a purpose. And there is no purpose in Lesnar losing at SummerSlam. The Beast needs to become the best, and it needs to happen against Cena.
