WWE Raw Results: Biggest Winners and Losers After Aug. 11
Two of SummerSlam's featured attractions, Brock Lesnar and Brie Bella, gathered serious momentum on the Aug. 11 edition of WWE Raw, emerging as two of the night's biggest winners. The amount of focus they received earned them both victories despite not entering official matches.
Heath Slater added a win of his own, managing another upset in what has become a succession of them.
For RybAxel and Sheamus, the trip to Portland, Oregon wasn't nearly as successful. Beyond their defeats in the ring, Monday's Raw pointed to them sliding downward on the WWE depth chart. Ryback and Curtis Axel were again asked to play someone else's fodder, while Sheamus is set to watch SummerSlam from the dressing room.

Brie, on the other hand, is at the center of a hero-vs.-tyrant storyline.
Winner: Brie Bella
WWE is fully invested in Brie vs. Stephanie McMahon. Their feud was not the main event segment this time around but was a prominent part of Monday's Raw.
McMahon introduced fans to Daniel Bryan's physical therapist, a woman named Megan Miller. Miller tearfully confessed to having an affair with Bryan. That compelled Brie to storm out, slap the physical therapist and clamp the Yes! Lock onto McMahon.
The moment was brimming with emotion as Brie's rage increased anticipation for her SummerSlam matchup.
Brie later emerged on screen ready to take on McMahon in the ring. However, the executive grinned as she announced that Miller would be pressing charges. Mirroring McMahon's arrest from three weeks ago, the police led a handcuffed Brie out of the arena.
This continues to be the premier Divas storyline, making Brie the most featured female wrestler on the roster even over Divas champ AJ Lee.
The company is placing her clash with McMahon just below the main event slot at SummerSlam. That's an opportunity not often afforded to the Divas, one of which her peers have to be envious.
Loser: Sheamus
On Monday's Raw, Kane told The Viper that The Authority wanted to make sure he was ready for his upcoming collision with Roman Reigns. To do so, Orton had to battle Sheamus.
The result was the match of the night, a hard-hitting battle of two titans.
Sheamus inflicted plenty of punishment but suffered the final blow. As he soared from the top rope, Orton caught him in midair with an RKO.
Sheamus' loss to Randy Orton isn't going to hurt him, though; it's his lack of opportunity at SummerSlam that is going to sting.
The RKO ended Sheamus' night, one that didn't see him engage in a feud or see a challenger step up to him. Everyone from Rusev to The Miz has a match on tap for the pay-per-view. The Celtic Warrior appears to be without a partner for the big summer dance.
Winner: Heath Slater
The miracles have yet to end. Slater added another win to his record on Monday's Raw, extending a surprising streak for the perennial loser.
On Monday's Raw, Dolph Ziggler's lack of focus hampered his chances against the West Virginia native. The Miz hung around ringside, eventually baiting The Showoff to come out of the ring after him.
The two foes brawled around the ring area while the referee counted to 10. Once Ziggler realized that time was slipping away from him, he darted back under the ropes.
It was too late, though. Slater's latest victory had come, this time by way of a count-out.
It's unclear where WWE will go with this story, but Slater's shocking run has been a blast. Fans in the Moda Center were clearly having a good time, chanting Slater's name before and after the bout.
While he was just a pawn in this feud over the Intercontinental Championship, Slater will inspire his own headlines by continuing his transformation from punching bag to lovable underdog.
Loser: RybAxel
WWE needed a way for Roman Reigns to look like a gladiator. It chose to have him topple two men: Ryback and Curtis Axel.
After being one of the bottom teams of the tag division for so long, the duo now adds a loss to one man to their resume.
The defeat came by way of disqualification, so it doesn't leave as bad an impression as it could have. Still, the lasting images of that match are Reigns lining up Axel and Ryback and laying them out with Superman punches and spears.
That's a big boost for Reigns, who is in rarefied territory as a Superstar capable of thriving in the wrong end of a Handicap match. For RybAxel, though, the loss marks them as being the easy-to-overcome goons before the hero faces his real test. They are the bowling pins, not the ball.
It's hard to take them seriously as a dangerous tag team when they ended this two-on-one battle on their backs.
Winner: Brock Lesnar
Lesnar opened and closed the show awash with confidence, exuding an air of mercilessness. WWE pointed the spotlight directly on him, using him as a major selling point for SummerSlam.
If Monday's Raw were one's first time watching the program, it's likely one would conclude that Lesnar was the company's top star rather than a special attraction.
He glared at the camera in the show's opening segment. Paul Heyman, as usual, did the talking. The manager promised that Lesnar would give Cena a beating comparable to a Shakespearean tragedy. He talked up Lesnar and his chances of conquering the champ as he has done so often before.
The night wasn't over for The Beast Incarnate, though. During Hulk Hogan's birthday celebration, Lesnar interrupted the festivities. He scowled at the legends standing in the ring, even bumping Roddy Piper aside.
He had but one line in that moment: "Party's over, grandpa."
The scene painted Lesnar as an intimidating force, a man with no respect for even the biggest names in the industry. John Cena came out for the save before the situation turned violent, but Lesnar just slipped away.
Grinning, he retreated, forcing fans to wait for SummerSlam to see those two lock horns. The segment, and Monday's Raw as a whole, didn't show any vulnerability in Lesnar.
There was a touch of cowardice at the end there, but Lesnar heads into SummerSlam untouched as the center of hype and the favorite even as he prepares to face WWE's resident superhero.
