
National Signing Day 2014: Tracking Top 100 College Football Recruits
National signing day annually provides programs with promise for the future and finally allows high-profile prospects to officially conclude lengthy recruiting processes. The program-player pacts created Feb. 5 could ultimately determine national championships and Heisman Trophy winners in coming years.
Several of the country's coveted recruits revealed verbal commitments early, others have already enrolled on campus, and some remain in deliberation down to the wire. Stay updated on the latest developments surrounding premier prospects right here.

The two-time Gatorade Football Player of the Year in Colorado is the son of former Denver Broncos receiver Ed McCaffrey. The 4-star recruit is rated the county's second-best all-purpose back and will have an opportunity to become a factor in the Cardinal offensive attack during his debut season in Palo Alto.

Sims is the country's No. 12 receiver prospect and is among a crop of elite Louisiana pass-catchers in this class. The 4-star recruit fits the mold of past premier Crimson Tide receivers, attacking the secondary with a large frame and tremendous acceleration.

Lazard, the 11th-best receiver prospect in the nation, is a physically imposing specimen who makes defensive backs look foolish in one-on-one coverage. The 4-star prospect is set up for a very productive freshman season in Ames, where the Cyclones have anxiously awaited his arrival.

He faces heavy competition along a talented Gators defensive front, so a redshirt season is a possibility.

Harris, the nation's No. 3 dual-threat quarterback prospect, has plenty of upside as he heads to Baton Rouge. The 4-star recruit accounted for 49 total touchdowns as a senior, according to The Times' Matt Vines (subscription required), and figures to be in the mix for a starting role in his second or third year on campus.
74. Ross Pierschbacher, OT, 6'4", 290 Lbs

Pierschbacher, the top-ranked prospect in Iowa, is a prototypical bookend who is likely to line up at right tackle in Tuscaloosa. He is rated the country's sixth-best recruit at the position and will have time to get acclimated with SEC speed as a freshman reserve.

Daub is an instinctive 4-star defender from Jacksonville who ranks fourth nationally among inside linebackers. Florida State has a crowded linebacker corps, but his abilities make it possible for him to crack the two-deep depth chart during his first year in Tallahassee.
72. Jerrod Heard, QB, 6'2.5", 190 Lbs
29 of 101Where Jerrod Heard is headed: Signed with Texas
Heard, a 4-star recruit who committed to Texas as a sophomore, is the country's second-ranked dual-threat quarterback, and for good reason. He surpassed 2,000 yards rushing and passing in each of the past two seasons and may be the most talented Longhorns prospect at the position since Vince Young.
71. Jacob Pugh, OLB, 6'4", 221 Lbs

Pugh, a 4-star Tallahassee product, will stay put in his hometown to play for the national champs. He is the nation's No. 6 outside linebacker prospect and has the pass-rushing skills to instantly help out the Seminoles front seven.

67. Drake Harris, WR, 6'4", 180 Lbs

Harris is the third-ranked recruit in Michigan and a pivotal pickup for the Wolverines. The 4-star receiver missed his entire senior season with a hamstring injury after a monster junior campaign in which he had more than 2,000 receiving yards. If he can quickly return to form during spring practice, expect to see Harris on the field as a freshman in Ann Arbor.
66. Erick Smith, S, 6'1", 185 Lbs

Smith, the nation's sixth-ranked safety, is at his best near the line of scrimmage. He drops the hammer in run support and patrols the flat with authority. He has special teams ace written all over him at Ohio State in 2014.

Valentine, a 4-star recruit from the Miami area, decommitted from the Hurricanes in early January. The nation's third-ranked defensive tackle splits double-teams and is a key weapon in goal-line packages.

Roberson was one of the most disruptive defenders in Texas last season, tallying 14 sacks en route to a title game appearance, per MaxPreps. The 4-star prospect is ranked fourth nationally among strong-side defensive ends and provides a crucial element in Charlie Strong's first Longhorns recruiting class.
63. Braden Smith, OG, 6'6", 290 Lbs

Smith, the No. 1 prospect in Kansas, is arguably the strongest member of this class. The nation's third-ranked offensive guard earned first-team All-USA honors and bench presses nearly 500 pounds, per USA Today's Jim Halley. He is arguably the most explosive interior offensive lineman.

Samuel, a scintillating playmaker from Brooklyn, brings elite athleticism to cornerback, wide receiver and running back. Urban Meyer has plenty of options of how to implement New York's No. 1 prospect, who isn't likely to stay on the sideline as a freshman.

Jones, a 4-star Louisiana safety, chose Alabama over SEC rival LSU. He is the nation's fourth-ranked player at the position, but spots are at a premium atop the Crimson Tide's depth chart. The early departure of Ha Ha Clinton-Dix potentially creates an opportunity.
49. Davion Hall, ATH, 6'3", 186 Lbs

Hall, the country's fifth-ranked athlete, is an explosive Texas speedster. It remains to be seen if the 4-star prospect will play receiver or defensive back at Baylor, but his dynamic skills command immediate attention for Art Briles and his staff.
48. Will Grier, QB, 6'3", 187 Lbs
53 of 101Where Will Grier is headed: Enrolled at Florida
Grier garnered national attention for posting video game numbers throughout his high school career and capped it off with a 2013 season that featured more than 6,000 total yards and 90 touchdowns, per MaxPreps. The 4-star prospect is rated America's No. 2 pro-style quarterback and figures to compete for at least the main backup role at Florida next season, if not the starting job itself.

Taylor is the nation's second-ranked guard prospect and brings the thunder on every snap. The No. 1 recruit in Mississippi will have veteran Rebel linemen looking over their shoulders as soon as he arrives on campus.
46. Elijah Hood, RB, 5'11.5", 222 Lbs
55 of 101Where Elijah Hood is headed: Enrolled at North Carolina
The 4-star Charlotte, N.C., recruit decommitted from Notre Dame in August to stay closer to home and play for UNC. Hood, the state's top-ranked player, rushed for 3,640 yards and 53 touchdowns as a senior, per The Charlotte Observer's Langston Wertz Jr. It won't take long for him to become a focal point of the Tar Heels' attack.
45. Kc McDermott, OT, 6'6", 300 Lbs
56 of 101Where Kc McDermott is headed: Enrolled at Miami
The mammoth 4-star prospect from Florida is ranked third nationally among offensive tackles. He is the third brother in his family to play Division I football and should avoid a redshirt at Miami since the team has an immediate need to upgrade depth at the position.
44. Joseph Yearby, RB, 5'9", 190 Lbs
57 of 101Where Joseph Yearby is headed: Enrolled at Miami
Yearby, a 4-star prospect out of Florida state champion Miami Central, lost the final stretch of his senior season with a fractured fibula. His initial role in the Hurricanes backfield remains a mystery, as starting running back Duke Johnson is also working his way back from an injury and will miss spring practice.
43. Travis Rudolph, WR, 6'1", 185 Lbs
58 of 101Where Travis Rudolph is headed: Signed with Florida State
Rudolph, ranked sixth among national wide receiver prospects, picks up speed quickly and feasts on crossing patterns. A strong opening camp could make the 4-star recruit a favorite target for Jameis Winston, who lost top playmaker Kelvin Benjamin to the NFL draft.
42. Edward Paris, S, 6'1", 190 Lbs

40. Jalen Hurd, ATH, 6'3", 230 Lbs
61 of 101Where Jalen Hurd is headed: Enrolled at Tennessee
The country's fourth-ranked athlete lost his entire senior season after suffering a shoulder injury in the 2013 opener. Hurd, a 4-star recruit who is a unique playmaker because of his length, will make a difference in Knoxville as a receiver and rusher.
39. Christian Miller, OLB, 6'4", 222 Lbs
62 of 101Where Christian Miller is headed: Signed with Alabama
Miller is a tall outside linebacker who is rated as the top prospect in South Carolina. He finished his senior season with an astonishing 188 tackles and 24 sacks. Alabama already features several tremendous athletes in the front seven, so we may not see much of Miller as a freshman, who could use the season to add bulk.
38. Damien Mama, OG, 6'4", 370 Lbs
63 of 101Where Damien Mama is headed: Signed with USC
Mama, a 4-star recruit, is a motivated run-blocker who helped deliver a California state tile to St. John Bosco. The nation's top-ranked guard must hit another level of physical fitness to reach his potential, but that will come quickly with work on campus this summer.
37. Royce Freeman, RB, 5'11.5", 215 Lbs
64 of 101Where Royce Freeman is headed: Signed with Oregon
The dynamic 4-star playmaker set a new San Diego-area career rushing record during his senior season at Imperial High School, finishing his career with 7,601 rushing yards, per UT San Diego's John Maffei. Freeman, ranked sixth nationally among running back recruits, provides the Ducks with a new dimension of physicality and could quickly carve out a role after De'Anthony Thomas' early exit.
36. Josh Malone, WR, 6'2.25", 191 Lbs
65 of 101Where Josh Malone is headed: Enrolled at Tennessee
Malone made the nation take notice with a breakout senior season that included 1,404 receiving yards and 22 offensive touchdowns. The top-ranked talent in Tennessee was a big target for the Vols, and he may ascend to a starting position by September.
35. Damon Webb, CB, 5'11", 180 Lbs

Webb, the No. 2 overall prospect in Michigan, headlines a tremendous class of defensive backs for the Buckeyes. He picked off 15 passes in the past two seasons. It's not far-fetched to think Webb would be in a position to open the season as Ohio State's nickelback.
