Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed Talks 'Hate' for Texas, Makes Bold Prediction for Rivalry Game

Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed didn't hold back on how he feels about the Texas Longhorns during an interview with Blake Toppmeyer of USA Today.

"We don't like Texas. I don't like Texas," Reed told Toppmeyer. "It sucks that we've lost to them twice. But, they're coming here this year, so they're gonna have to pay. I've got something for them, for sure."

Reed also had this to say about Texas' burnt orange color.

"I hate the color orange," Reed said. "The colors just look so ugly. Everywhere you go (in Austin), you see that color orange. Burnt orange? Who likes burnt orange? Texas, it's the rival, bro. You gotta hate them."

Aside from the fact that the two schools are bitter in-state rivals, Reed has good reason to dislike Texas. The Aggies have endured rough losses to Texas in both 2024 and 2025 with Reed calling signals both times.

In 2024, Texas A&M lost 17-7 at home. The Aggies were shut out offensively, and their only points came after Will Lee III's third-quarter pick-six.

In 2025, the No. 3 Aggies were favored over the Longhorns, but Texas quarterback Archie Manning led his team to a 27-17 victory. Reed had a tough game through the air, tossing a pair of interceptions and no touchdowns.

Reed has shown promise as Texas A&M's QB1, accounting for 53 touchdowns in his two seasons as a starter (40 passing, 13 rushing), 5,033 passing yards (8.2 yards per attempt) and 1,036 rushing yards.

Last year's Aggies team went 11-0 before losing its final two games, including a 10-3 defeat to Miami in the College Football Playoff.

This year's Aggies team has great expectations again and sits eighth in the Associated Press preseason poll. Texas is a few notches higher at No. 5. This matchup could be a heated and crucially important game when they meet again soon enough.

That'll be on Friday, Nov. 27, when the Aggies welcome the Longhorns to Kyle Field in College Station.
