Big Show Should Remain Unbooked as Rebellion vs. the McMahons Continues
Big Show is currently on the outside looking in. As WWE fans know, the Giant was fired by Stephanie McMahon back on the October 7 edition of Monday Night Raw. Since that moment, Show has knocked out Triple H, all three members of the Shield and Raw General Manager Brad Maddox.
But in all that time, Show has supposedly not been on the company's payroll.
We are meant to believe that The World's Largest Athlete is indeed unemployed and is acting on his own when he shows up on WWE programming. And I believe that must continue. In fact, I believe Big Show must remain unbooked while this rebellion against the McMahon family takes place.

The fact is that both Stephanie McMahon and her husband Triple H have used Show's job with WWE against him for quite a while now. It was after SummerSlam, the night that Hunter gave Randy Orton the assist in winning the WWE Championship, that Big Show's troubles began.
SummerSlam saw the crowning of the McMahon endorsed Orton as WWE champion, and when that happened, everything changed in the company. Suddenly, Daniel Bryan was fighting against the odds each and every week as Hunter's new regime ruled WWE with an iron fist.
Bryan's task seemed impossible, mostly because no one else could step up to help him for fear of being fired.
But one guy stood out from the rest. One guy was obviously having a problem with what Triple H was doing to Daniel's career. That guy was the Big Show, who was unfortunately unable to act due to financial problems outside the ring.
The McMahons were very aware of this and used that knowledge to their advantage.
Show became a corporate puppet, forced to do the dirty work for Triple H and Stephanie. All they had to do was point and Show reluctantly swung his fist, knocking out everyone that was put in front of him.
And despite how much it bothered Big Show to do it, he did it all the same.
The fact is he had to. He just didn't have a choice.
This was the primary selling point of this angle and it worked very well. Every time Big Show was faced with whether or not to throw the knockout punch, the crowd fully supported him. They wanted to see him rebel against The Authority. They wanted to see him put an end to all of the persecution that he had been through for so long.
They wanted to see Big Show be a man and do the right thing. This is what kept fans tuned in to this storyline and kept them interested.
Fans were emotionally invested in this. They knew that it was only a matter of time before Show got his hands on Triple H and put a stop to all of the harassment that he had been suffering through. And when it finally happened, they responded with what was perhaps the biggest pop of Big Show's career.
For me, it was one of the best moments of this storyline. Show had played the part of the tortured Superstar for so long and had done such a great job of it that the impact of his vengeance was felt even more for fans. The fact that he had been such a sympathetic figure caused fans to feel for his plight and caused them to celebrate even more when he was finally able to overcome.
So why throw all of that away now?
The truth is that if WWE were to suddenly switch gears in this angle and somehow reinstate Big Show onto the active roster, then the lasting effect of all that work will be lost. The crowd's support for him during this time will still be felt of course but it will no longer be needed.
Big Show would have his job back and then it would be business as usual for him.
Of course, we all know that Show is still employed by WWE.
This entire storyline is just that; a storyline. When the time is right, his character will be rehired by someone in the McMahon family, possibly even Vince McMahon. Vince has been missing in action since his daughter and son-in-law took over the authoritative roles on WWE programming, and it's entirely possible he could ink a new deal for Show.
But until that moment happens, Big Show needs to remain unbooked. Whatever realism still exists for fans of WWE and of this storyline, it must be perpetuated by keeping Show out of the ring. Having him show up unannounced is only helping his character and is causing fans to become even more emotionally invested in this angle.
He has become the wild card for the rebellion in WWE.
Cody and Dustin Rhodes were very close to winning the tag team championships from Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns when Dean Ambrose interfered like we knew he would. But when Big Show came through the crowd and delivered his own brand of justice to The Shield, he evened the odds and helped the Rhodes brothers win the titles.
And when Daniel Bryan finds himself outnumbered on TV up to and including WWE's Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, it will likely be Big Show that comes to his aid. While some fans may scoff at this notion, arguing that Bryan should win on his own, the fact is that he has been outgunned for a long time now.
Big Show is the difference maker who can now help to level the playing field. Triple H's new regime has been on top for quite a while now and has not had to answer to anyone.
Those days are now over.
Big Show is the ultimate weapon of mass destruction and he is going to war for all the right reasons.
Big Show is over right now and there's no reason to hinder that by throwing him back in the ring too soon. WWE must stay the course on this one. They have done too much for him and Show has done too good of a job for all that effort to unravel now.
