Sheamus defeats Jack Swagger
Before two of the WWE's most powerful wrestlers could go at it, Zeb Colter got on the mic with his daily diatribe. Targeting the Latino-Americans in Laredo, Texas, Colter wasted no time in commenting on the immigrants attempting to illegally cross the border.
Colter even told Sheamus that he snuck into the United States of America.
As one might expect, the crowd wasn't too pleased with what Colter had to say. Chants of "What?" soon followed, and so did a heavy dosage of brutality.
With no remorse, Sheamus pummeled Swagger with rights and lefts as their match officially commenced.
Swagger responded, targeting the massive bruise on Sheamus' thigh with kicks, submission maneuvers and attempted hits off of the ring post. Swagger even caught Sheamus in the Patriot Lock, but when it was all said and done, this one was about resiliency.
With the crowd behind him, Sheamus displayed just that.
Pulling out powerful moves such a pump-handle slam and using his ring-awareness to throw Swagger face-first into the steel ring post. From there, Swagger attempted to get back into the ring and regain momentum.
Before he could, Swagger pummeled him with the Brogue Kick to pick up the three-count.
A momentous victory for Sheamus.
Sheamus, sporting a eye-popping bruise on his thigh, has yet to remove the pain of defeat from his mind after missing out at Money in the Bank. Since then, Sheamus has faced some of the best, which proves that he remains a threat to the world title.
Defeating Swagger simply affirms his status as one of the best in the WWE.
Sin Cara defeats Drew McIntyre
Accompanied by the supporting members of 3MB, Drew McIntyre took to the ring in hopes of picking up a win in Laredo, Texas. Unfortunately for the Three Man Band, the man on the opposite end of the ring was Sin Cara.
With a series of high-flying maneuvers, Sin Cara was too much for McIntry to handle.
With the crowd showering him with surprising chants of "Mistico," Sin Cara went high-risk on multiple occasions. From gorgeous kicks while flying off of the ring ropes to creative reversals, the Mexican legend had an answer for every move McIntyre threw his way.
The crowd wouldn't have had it any other way.
This is a surprising victory for Sin Cara, who has struggled to piece together victories.
If he's to continue this winning streak, Sin Cara could provide the high-flying presence that the WWE has missed with Rey Mysterio's injury. There are wrestlers capable of thriving in that regard, but even as he struggles to win matches, Cara is a very over face.
As for 3MB, their slide continues.
Damien Sandow defeated Justin Gabriel
Receiving a strange push since winning the Money in the Bank briefcase, Damien Sandow appeared in the headlining match of Main Event. Matched up against Justin Gabriel, a wrestler known for being a mid-card mainstay, this was a must-win.
Sandow came through with the win.
Sandow and Gabriel took each other to their limits, pulling out numerous near falls and executing signature maneuvers. With Gabriel nearly pulling out the victory, some fans were on the edges of their seats, wondering how Sandow could salvage his title dreams.
In the end, however, Sandow came up with the big moves when they were needed to pick up the victory.
A necessary win.
Sandow owns the most powerful piece of hardware in the WWE, as he has the right to challenge for the World Heavyweight championship at any moment. With minimal momentous appearances on the main shows, however, there has been a debatable mishandling of his character.
Fortunately, Sandow won this one to send Main Event off of the air.
