4 TUF Locations We'd Love to See
Although many fans find The Ultimate Fighter series to be unnecessary and obsolete, it is still a great tool for discovering talent. Case in point, the UFC has discovered hot prospects such as Kelvin Gastelum and Uriah Hall in their latest season.
One thing that TUF is a great platform for is international expansion. The UFC has already done that in certain countries, such as Australia, Canada, Brazil and the UK. Mexico, China and India are also on tap to eventually get their own version of the show.
Here are four new locations we would love to see a TUF series take place in due to the amount of talent and fanbase.
Poland
1 of 4Poland's MMA fanbase is so underrated, it's almost sickening. The media for the UK and Sweden basically crushes all noise that Poland makes, which is quite a bit. For evidence, watch the enthusiasm Polish fans have when they view a KSW-promoted event.
Poland has a lot of great talent, especially in their upper weight classes. Established veterans like Mamed Khalidov mix well with lesser-known guys like Michal Materla to provide a great mixture of talent and excitement.
It's surprising the UFC hasn't ventured into the northern European country, especially considering their continued push into the continent.
Fighters to consider for show: Michal Materla, Damian Grabowski, Jan Blachowicz, Artur Sowinski, Aslambek Saidov, Piotr Hallmann, Krzysztof Jotko
Russia
2 of 4If there is any place hotter than Russia for up-and-coming talent, I have yet to see it. They are pumping out world-class fighters that have taken Bellator and the UFC by storm.
Just think of the recent cases.
Rustam Khabilov has suplexed his way into the hearts of UFC fans. Khabib Nurmagomedov has dominated in his UFC career and is yet to lose. Andrey Koreshkov has dominated in Bellator and is about to get his title shot. Alexander Volkov is the Bellator heavyweight champ, with Vitaly Minakov hot on his trail.
You get the picture?
With all the talent and potential coming out of that country, in unison with Bellator's ability to sign these hot fighters, the UFC needs to make sure they snap some up and develop them on their own terms.
Fighters to consider for show: Musa Khamanaev, Rashid Magomedov, Arthur Guseinov, Maxim Grishin
Ireland
3 of 4This one is an interesting choice, isn't it? If you don't watch Cage Warriors or any UK-based MMA promotions, this may be a questionable call.
In any case, one man can show you that Ireland is overlooked.
Conor McGregor.
The interesting personality that stormed his way onto the UFC scene with a knockout of Marcus Brimage is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of Irish talent.
SBG Ireland is the top camp on the European island. The camp itself boasts a number of great talents that could easily jump to the UFC.
Fighters to consider for show: Cathal Pendred, Chris Fields, Patrick Holohan, John Michael Sheil, Neil Seery, Paul Redmond
Japan
4 of 4Japan is one of the original territories where MMA flourished. However, it is yet to have its own version of the reality show.
Japan has the talent to flood the UFC's bantamweight and flyweight divisions, which are in need of more fighters. Just look at their Deep, Pancrase and Shooto promotions that consistently put on entertaining cards with up-and-coming talent.
Take some of that talent, put them in a house, have them train and look at the results. It could provide future stars for the company.
Fighters to consider for show: Ryuichi Miki, Mamoru Yamaguchi, Shinichi Kojima, Michinori Tanaka, Kyoji Horiguchi, Satoru Kitaoka
