4 Reasons John Cena Will Lose the WWE Title at Money in the Bank
In just a few short days, Mark Henry will challenge John Cena for the WWE Championship. And as farfetched as it may seem, John Cena will lose the WWE title at WWE Money in the Bank.
Before you rush to judgement, just consider the four parts of the scenario described in the following slides. The following scenario is actually likely because it accomplishes some very important goals. Read on to learn more.
No. 4: Mark Henry Needs This Win
1 of 4Mark Henry is at the end of his career. For all intents and purposes, his non-retirement speech a few weeks back was probably as close to an emotional retirement speech as we'll get from Henry.
Mark Henry has held numerous titles in his career, including the ECW Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship. Winning the title would put Henry in rare company, as only a few wrestlers have ever held the World Heavyweight Championship, ECW Championship and WWE Championship. In fact, if you only count WWE's incarnation of the World Heavyweight Championship, the list is narrowed down to one: Kane.
Having Henry go on a WWE Championship run would absolutely cement him as a Hall of Famer. More importantly, though, it would set in motion a series of events leading to the feud between John Cena and Daniel Bryan.
No. 3: Daniel Bryan Not Ready for Cena...Yet
2 of 4Having John Cena lose to Mark Henry won't just make hardcore fans who dislike Cena happy. It will set up the rumored feud between John Cena and Daniel Bryan.
While there are varying rumors, what is important is the fact WWE wants to put the two together for a program. If Cena loses, WWE can prolong the feud between Cena and Henry, giving Bryan a little more time to go heel (which he probably will in a feud with Cena).
It will also give him time to get his hands on a certain briefcase.
No. 2: Cena Needs to Win Again Before He Loses
3 of 4If John Cena loses to Mark Henry (and maybe I'm delusional in thinking he will), he'll need to win the rematch at SummerSlam. A month-long title reign by a likely-retiring Mark Henry won't hurt Henry, and Cena "overcoming the odds" will re-establish him as dominant (even though we all know he really doesn't need help doing that).
After Cena regains the title, an irate Henry may well annihilate Cena, giving Bryan the opening he needs to take the title off Cena after only a few minutes. After a quick TV rematch against Henry, which Bryan will win, the Cena-Bryan feud will begin.
No. 1: Henry's Win Will Set Up the Cena-Bryan Feud
4 of 4Yes! Yes! Yes! We finally come to the main reason Mark Henry will defeat John Cena: the long-term feud between John Cena and Daniel Bryan.
The previous slides have shown the setup, and it all begins with Mark Henry defeating John Cena. Many people may be understandably hesitant to accept that Henry even has a chance against Cena. That's reasonable skepticism.
But with WWE moving away from PG and taking on a more unpredictable, more aggressive product, it may be safe once more to expect the unexpected. That's why this writer believe John Cena will lose the WWE title at Money in the Bank.
