WWE Money in the Bank 2013: Developments That Would Make PPV a Success

Brian MaziqueJun 8, 2018

Money in the Bank is the type of pay-per-view event that could ultimately set the tone for the rest of the WWE schedule in 2013 and beyond. Last year, Dolph Ziggler held on to the MITB briefcase until April before finally cashing it in at the expense of Alberto Del Rio.

Hopefully, the winners of the two MITB ladder matches won't wait that long to cash in this year. But that's just a hint of the events that need to transpire for MITB to be a successful pay-per-view.

Here's a short list of what would make the night most memorable.

2026's Most Pleasant Surprises 🤩

Have Both Winners Successfully Cash In Their MITB Briefcases During the Show

I hinted at this a bit in the introduction, but why not have both titles change hands on Sunday night? It would be one of the most impacting dual events at a pay-per-view in recent memory.

It would also set up one heck of a Monday Night Raw the next night. Picture the winners of the WWE championship and World Heavyweight championship cutting promos after having their belts yanked on the same night.

That would be fairly fresh, creating angles to explore.

Don't Let Mark Henry Win the Title

While I am the perhaps the biggest Mark Henry fan that doesn't live in Texas, it simply isn't the right time to crown the big man with the one important singles title he hasn't won.

If and when Henry wins the title, there will be nowhere else to go but down for him. I personally am not ready to see that.

So, while I'd never boo a Henry win, there are better ways to give the greatest heel the business has seen in the last 15 years his due.

Make MITB the First Step Toward Unifying the Titles

You've likely read suggestions like this before, but here's how this one is unique—hopefully. Let's not immediately launch the tension between champions. The WWE already hinted at this with their champion vs. champion match a few weeks ago on Monday Night Raw.

This needs to be a gradual process so the storyline can build properly.

After both MITB winners cash in their briefcases, it would be ideal if the two superstars subtly cross each other's path during the event. It would be appropriate if there isn't even a mention of the angle from the announce team.

But as the coming weeks and events unfold, the angle needs to gain intensity. The September pay-per-view is Night of Champions, what better show could there be to feature a unification match?

This is where Henry should get his prize. No superstar currently in the WWE deserves to be the next undisputed heavyweight champion of the world more than the World's Strongest Man.

To pull this off, the Henry-Cena feud needs to extend to SummerSlam where Henry could then dethrone Cena as WWE champion. Cena can regain the title from the man who cashes in the MITB, or Henry could then target the man who benefited from the beating the WSM gives Cena.

Henry could cut a few more amazing promos about not being satisfied with just being the WWE champion and target the World Heavyweight Champion.

Obviously, this would mean the latter would have to be a babyface. It really doesn't matter who the opposition is at that point, but a major name would obviously be preferable considering this potential match would likely be one of the highlights of the pay-per-view.

That's a lot to take in, I know, but tell me that wouldn't make for a great second half of the year in the WWE.
