US Open Golf 2013 Leaderboard: Day 3 Real-Time Updates for All Leaders
Merion, and sunlight, are getting the better of the 2013 U.S. Open field after two days of action in Ardmore, Pennsylvania.
Phil Mickelson and Billy Horschel, though, are getting the better of the field—barely. The two Americans are the only players who ended Friday under par.
For the second day in a row, play was suspended Friday due to disappearing sunlight, pushing some to again finish their round prior to beginning their next.
Now that things are back in full swing, let’s take a look at where each golfer sits as Saturday’s action progresses:

What We’re Seeing: Merion is Winning
The short and “easy” Merion Golf Course struck back with a vengeance after two days of U.S. Open action.
This watered-down and revamped course has been an unexpected terror for players to this point. High winds haven’t helped matters but have helped play down early expectations for low scores.
Those low scores continued to elude some of the best golfers in the world as they attempted to get the better of Merion to finish in the red on Friday. Just two players, though—Mickelson and Horschel–began Saturday morning under par.
While the two were narrowly holding onto the lead heading into today, the odds aren’t good for either of them finishing atop the leaderboard, according to ESPN Stats and Information:
The All-Star Pairing
Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott came into Merion as the top three golfers in the world. The announcement that they would be paired together for the first two rounds led to excitement around the world.
While Woods (+3) and McIlroy (+3) are still in contention, trailing by just four-strokes at the start of Saturday’s play, Scott (+7) fell to near the projected cut-line (+8) after following his poor opening-round 72 with a 75 bomb on Friday.
The group was an All-Star pairing that definitely failed to live up to expectations at soggy Merion.
