'Darth Vader Had More Fun,' Wyndham Clark Reacts to BMW Win After Pairing with McIlroy, Scheffler

For the second time this year, Wyndham Clark knew he wasn't the sentimental favorite as he went on to claim victory.

Playing with Scottie Scheffler for the final round, Clark received a frosty reception from the crowd as he won the U.S. Open in June. Sunday was a case of déjà vu as he claimed the BMW Championship knowing full well the St. Louis fans were pulling for Rory McIlroy.

"Darth Vader had more fun," he said, per the Associated Press' Doug Ferguson. "... I know everyone maybe gives me a hard time and roots for other people. But I feel like I've kind of come into my own. Three wins in one season is my best year yet — coming off my worst year ever. I'm just really pleased where I'm at right now."

Much like the U.S. Open, Clark didn't seal the deal in emphatic fashion. His even-par 70 on Sunday was his worst round of the tournament. Birdies on his last three holes kept him three shots clear of runner-up Patrick Cantlay.

This is already the biggest year of Clark's career. His three wins match how many he had entering the season.

The 32-year-old can potentially put quite the capper on 2026. The Tour Championship tees off Thursday at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, and the winner will pocket a $10 million prize.
