US Open Leaderboard 2013: Top Day 2 Storylines and Live Updates
After Thursday's action at the 2013 U.S. Open, Luke Donald led the field at four-under par, but he had only completed 13 holes at Merion Golf Club due to weather delays.
Meanwhile, Phil Mickelson was able to finish his first round, posting a three-under-par 67.
Will Donald capture his first career major? How is world No. 1 Tiger Woods doing so far?
Here's a look at the top storylines headed into Day 2 of the 2013 U.S. Open, complete with a live leaderboard.
Phil Mickelson Rolling
Phil Mickelson should just skip practice and pretend he's going to his daughter's graduation before every tournament from now on.
Lefty has gotten off to a strong start at Merion, posting a three-under-par 67 on Day 1. He notched four birdies in holes 1 through 13 and stayed out of trouble in holes 14 through 18.
Mickelson ranks 160th in driving accuracy this season, but he's putted well, ranking eighth on tour, via PGATour.com.
Also, as I wrote before, I believe the experience of seeing his daughter Amanda's graduation will actually help him mentally on the course. You may remember that he placed second at the 1999 U.S. Open when his wife was about to give birth to Amanda. I guess you could call Amanda his good-luck charm.
Jason Sobel of GolfChannel.com quipped during Thursday's action:
"Phil Mickelson in the lead. "We're talking about practice, man. We're not talking about the game. We're talking about practice..."

Mickelson has two top-three finishes in his last two tournaments, including a second-place finish at the FedEx St. Jude Classic.
Tiger Woods Off to Rough Start
Tiger Woods has always been at a disadvantage at the U.S. Open due to his driving accuracy. His driving accuracy has been much better the past two years, per PGATour.com, but it's still his biggest weakness.
While his greatness in other categories has covered that up in prior years (particularly, his putting), that hasn't been the case the past two years at the U.S. Open.
On Thursday, Woods frankly had an awful day. He posted a two-over par, and that was through the first 10 holes. He still has to worry about dreaded holes 14 through 18 in the first round. He did knock down a beautiful 50-foot putt at hole No. 6, but, for the most part, he was just a bit off on the greens, missing birdie opportunities on holes 8 through 10.
Woods' putting game will have to improve if he expects to bounce back at Merion. Don't think he doesn't know this.
Woods also appeared to tweak his left wrist or arm on the first hole on Thursday.
On top of that, history isn't on Tiger's side after two bogeys in his first three holes on Thursday, per ESPN Stats & Information:
"This is 3rd time Tiger Woods has made bogey or worse in 2 of first 3 holes at U.S. Open. The other two resulted in a cut and a withdraw.

Will Luke Donald Capture His First Career Major?
It's the question that seems to come up every year: Will Luke Donald finally capture his first career major?
Donald's red-hot start on Thursday at Merion was certainly encouraging. Posting five birdies in the first 13 holes is impressive.
The 34-year-old Englishman's game also appears to be well-suited for Merion. He ranks 34th on tour in driving accuracy this year, as well as sixth in putting, via PGATour.com.
That being said, it's fair to call Luke Donald (and Lee Westwood, for that matter) a choke artist on the grand stage at this point. He's been one of the best players in the world for years, but has yet to win a major. On top of that, he's posted just two top-10 finishes in nine career appearances at the U.S. Open.
Then again, perhaps the tide is shifting, as Justin Ray of ESPN Stats & Information highlighted during Thursday's action:
"In 12 major starts from 2010 through 2012, @LukeDonald never broke par in the 1st round of a major. Thu. at 2013 Masters shot 71, today -3.
