Inter Milan: Walter Mazzarri's Rebuilding Project with Nerazzurri
After much speculation throughout the year over the future of Andrea Stramaccioni, Inter moved quickly following the conclusion of the season to appoint a new coach.
Club owner Massimo Moratti has since installed former Napoli boss Walter Mazzarri as his new manager, handing him the task of rebuilding the Nerazzurri following a disastrous campaign which saw them eventually finish in ninth place.
Mazzarri has proven himself in Naples, guiding the club back to the higher echelons of Serie A whilst establishing them as a regular fixture in European competitions.

His achievements have arguably earned him this job in the eyes of Moratti, who was keen to stress that the experience Mazzarri brings was a key factor in his decision.
Nevertheless, the Italian tactician undoubtedly has a real task on his hands if he is to successfully guide the Nerazzurri back into contention both domestically and in Europe, but it would appear the recruitment drive is ready to commence this summer.
Naturally, the 51-year-old has been linked with various former players that he had coached at Napoli, with Juan Zuniga reportedly at the top of the list, according to Football-Italia.net.
However, arguably his first mission will be to assess his current squad and try to extract the best out of what he has at his disposal.
Mazzarri has consistently been commended for his tactical and man-management skills, and he will look to instil confidence back into the likes of Andrea Ranocchia and Antonio Cassano, both rumoured to be at risk of being sold this summer.
The club will give him time to analyse the squad and the requirements ahead of next season in order to improve, but while Moratti has never been shy to spend in order make Inter competitive, it will be vital to have a refreshed and injury-free squad before delving into the transfer market.
This is, by and large, still the same Inter who were considered Scudetto contenders in November before injuries ravished the squad. Furthermore, without any European distractions next season, their efforts will solely be aimed at breaking back into the Champions League, something Antonio Conte benefited from in his first season in charge at rivals Juventus.
According to Soccerex.com, Speculation continues to rumble on over whether Moratti will sell a stake in the club to Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir, with the incumbent owner adamant he will remain in control of a majority share.
However, should they reach a compromise and additional funds are pumped into the club, whether that be for the new stadium or to reinforce the playing squad, it would further strengthen Mazzarri's ability to turn the fortunes of the club around and restore them to past glories.
For now, the priority will be to give Mazzarri both time and financial backing to construct a squad capable of bouncing back from last year's disappointment. However, there is a sense of long-term planning brewing at Inter, and it will be interesting to see who they target in the transfer window with perhaps an emphasis on young talented players to compliment the more experienced individuals currently with the club.
