The Top 7 Most Amazing Dunkers in Chicago Bulls History
A flock of first-class dunkers have donned the Chicago Bulls uniform over the years. We've seen guys like Orlando Woolridge, Scottie Pippen and Eddie Robinson throw down numerous "Wow, I can't believe I just witnessed that" jams for Chicago's famous hoops team.
This slideshow will spotlight seven of the most electrifying dunkers in Bulls history. To be eligible for the list, the player must have played at least one season for the team.
So with that said, don't expect to see an appearance from newcomer Nate Robinson. Robinson, a three-time NBA dunk champ, obviously has skills, but he's yet to play a regular-season game with his new ballclub.
Well, without further ado, here are the Bulls' seven best dunkers of all time.
7. Taj Gibson
1 of 7Current Bull Taj Gibson makes the list simply because of one play—his stuff over Miami Heat superstar Dwyane Wade.
The sad thing about the play was that it came in Chicago, meaning D-Wade got embarrassed in his hometown.
The Wade dunk is absolutely the greatest of Gibson's career, but there are a few more that Bulls fans will never forget. His thunderous putback dunk versus Miami was also a thing of beauty, no doubt about it.
Look for the Bulls' talented sixth man to wow the United Center crowd for many years to come.
6. Eddie Robinson
2 of 7Eddie Robinson had mad hops. Or in other words, he could truly jump out of the gym.
E-Rob spent three seasons with the Bulls after signing with the team as a free agent in 2001.
Although his short career in Chicago was derailed by injuries, he did indeed pull off a few sick dunks due to his phenomenal leaping ability.
The super-athletic forward performed the rare “self alley-oop” on at least two different occasions as a Bull.
It’s a shame that he never participated in an NBA dunk contest. There’s no telling what he would’ve done.
5. Orlando Woolridge
3 of 7Drafted by the Bulls back in 1981, the late Orlando Woolridge was quite a player during his five seasons with the team.
Not only could he put up 20 points a night, he could also satisfy Chicago Stadium fans with his dunks.
Woolridge represented the Bulls in the NBA's first-ever dunk contest in 1984. And although he only finished in eighth place, he performed a brilliant between-the-legs dunk, which was later copied by fellow winners Isaiah Rider (1994) and Kobe Bryant (1997).
For two seasons, Woolridge and Michael Jordan served as an exciting, high-flying duo for the pre-Scottie Pippen Bulls.
4. Tyrus Thomas
4 of 7When the Bulls traded for Tyrus Thomas on draft night 2006, they thought they were getting their hands on a future star.
Unfortunately, the former LSU Tiger never blossomed into a franchise player, but he did turn out to be a standout dunker.
In 2007, Thomas became just the fourth Bull ever to compete in a dunk contest and finished behind Gerald Green, Nate Robinson and Dwight Howard.
During that particular contest, Thomas dunked over then-teammate Ben Gordon and actually broke the net. That must’ve been a pretty powerful jam.
3. Derrick Rose
5 of 7With Derrick Rose expected to miss most of this season due to an ACL injury, Bulls fans will surely miss his crowd-pleasing dunks.
Rose's resume includes a plethora of crazy dunks, especially against the Phoenix Suns.
The NBA's 2011 MVP once posterized Phoenix's Leandro Barbosa, and of course, nobody can forget the one on Goran Dragic. Dragic probably still loses sleep every night, thinking to himself, "Why me?"
How does someone who stands 6'3" dunk so easily? Well, it must have something to do with D-Rose's ridiculous 40-inch vertical.
Once Rose fully recovers from the devastating knee injury, he'll return to his old self, which means he'll go back to dunking all over the league once again.
2. Scottie Pippen
6 of 7Landing at the No. 2 spot on the list is none other the than Bulls legend Scottie Pippen.
When he wasn't shutting down scorers with his lockdown defense, the Hall of Fame small forward was showcasing his dunking skills.
You can't talk about Pippen's career highlights without mentioning his posterizing slam over Patrick Ewing during the 1994 playoffs. It's truly a classic and one of the best plays from the Bulls' heated rivalry with the New York Knicks during the '90s.
Although the dunk has been shown over and over again, it just never gets old no matter how many times you watch it.
Pippen also had some pretty nice dunks over the Charlotte Hornets' Alonzo Mourning as well as the Indiana Pacers' Travis Best, just to name a few.
1. Michael Jordan
7 of 7You definitely wasted your time if you were looking for Steve Kerr or Fred "The Mayor" Hoiberg to grab the No. 1 spot.
Michael Jordan is the greatest player of all time, the most exciting player of all time and yes, the greatest dunker of all time.
Throughout his 13 seasons in Chicago, MJ dazzled the world with a ton of spectacular, gravity-defying dunks.
Jordan could basically do anything. He possessed the ability to sky from the foul line, tomahawk over a seven-footer and even jam off a missed free throw attempt.
"His Airness" captured a pair of slam dunk titles in the 1980s ('87 and '88) while representing the Bulls, the team he put on the map.
