New College Football Uniforms 2012: Michigan's Threads Shine Amongst New Unis
I am feeling the new uniforms the Michigan Wolverines are set to debut against the Alabama Crimson Tide Saturday night.
I partially understand the affinity with new uniforms in sports, but only if the changes are significant. I generally don't like the alternate uniforms that completely disregard the team's color scheme.
I like to turn a game on and immediately know who I'm watching. This debacle from last season is an example of how not to tweak your uniforms:
You need a textual overlay on the screen to know you're watching Maryland in this getup.
The Wolverines have done it the right way. They have rearranged the colors we all know and associate with the program. They made the look more modern and sleek, and it comes off nicely.
I can see Denard Robinson slicing through a crowd in these threads.
Big Blue isn't the only team that has nice new alternate unis set to debut this season. Take a look at the Wisconsin Badgers new threads for their September 29 matchup with Nebraska:
It looks like a super-hero outfit. That would usually be a cheesy characteristic, but for some reason I like it.
The chrome helmets for Rutgers are absolutely awesome, and chocked full of testosterone. They have a weathered, yet regal look to them. How appropriate for a program called the Scarlet Knights.
These three examples represent the highlights of the the new uniform season.
