Why Rex Ryan and the New York Jets Are in Huge Trouble Offensively
Blame the overwhelming media coverage brought by Tim Tebow. Blame the fact that other than Santonio Holmes, the Jets have no real receiving threat. Blame whoever or whatever factor you want to blame. The bottom line is the New York Jets offense stinks.
Head coach Rex Ryan is on the hot seat, whether people want to admit it or not. After two straight AFC championship appearances, the Jets missed the playoffs last season. This year, the Jets seem to be heading in the same direction. Maybe even worse.
The Jets have not scored a single touchdown this preseason. While Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow both have been abysmal throwing the football so far, they are far from the only ones to blame for the Jets' offensive woes.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Shonn Greene has not proven that he can handle the rigors of being a starting running back in the league so far in his career, and especially this preseason. With no established backup, the Jets are going to be in a world of trouble running the football.
Other than Holmes, who proved to be selfish in last season's finale against Miami, the Jets have no proven threat at receiver, although Stephen Hill has been one of the few bright spots on this offense.
Dustin Keller is a solid receiver, but as a whole is a soft tight end who struggles with blocking, and has proven to disappear once he takes a huge hit.
To top it all off, the Jets have no security at the right tackle slot, as they benched Wayne Hunter a few days ago in favor of Austin Howard, who in all honesty is not at all an upgrade.
If history is any indication, the Jets are in huge trouble. The last team to be held without a touchdown in their first three preseason games was the 1977 Atlanta Falcons, who ended up going 7-7 that season, and only scored 20-plus points twice. However, in that situation, the Falcons had a stellar defense that gave up just 129 points, the fewest allowed in a 14-game season.
While the Jets have a very talented defense, they don't have the kind of personnel that can consistently hold their opponents to under 20 points every single game, not to mention that the Falcons did not play in the pass-happy era of today. The Jets may be able to keep games close, but it won't matter if the offense continues this disgusting play.
Maybe Tebow might have to be the short-term answer at quarterback in order for the Jets to have any type of success. No disrespect to Sanchez, but Tebow's athleticism could do wonders for the starting offense.
In any event, the Jets are in huge trouble if they don't turn this around ASAP. Unless they want to be in the top five of the 2013 NFL draft, they must turn their offense around. Otherwise, this could mean the end of Ryan and Sanchez in New York.
