What’s At Stake?
While nothing is truly on the line during preseason, these are two teams that missed the playoffs in 2011-12 and have a lot of work to do if they want to sneak in after the upcoming campaign.
Both the Redskins and Bears have a lot of question marks at key positions and plenty of evaluating to do in regards to their backups. This second exhibition game is a great time for them to feel out what sort of talent they have and start finalizing their depth chart.
Neither team will be doing much game-planning for the opponent or attempting to win at any cost, but it should still be a great matchup that will showcase some lesser-known players.

What They’re Saying
Scott Garbarini of The Sports Network caught up with Robert Griffin III after his impressive 4-of-6, 70-yard, one touchdown performance in his preseason debut against Buffalo.
""It felt extremely good to come out [and play]," Griffin said afterward. "[Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan] did a good job calling plays, got me in rhythm and helped get the offense in rhythm on that third [touchdown] drive."
"
Griffin will once again open the game as the Skins prepare him to be their starting QB in Week 1 of the regular season.
Redskins Player to Watch: Robert Griffin III
RGIII should play a bit more than he did against the Bills and will face a banged up Chicago defense that gave up 31 points in their first preseason contest against the Denver Broncos.
Griffin should be able to torch the Bears' defense, which will be missing superstar LB Brian Urlacher and may not put Julius Peppers on the field for a meaningless affair.
The second-overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft is going to be under the microscope, but if his first game was any indication, he will be just fine.
Bears Player to Watch: Matt Forte
The Bears RB missed the last four games of the 2011-12 season due to a sprained knee. He didn’t suit up against the Broncos due to the nasty conditions at Soldier Field last week and will be making his debut against the ‘Skins.
Chicago relies heavily on Forte as both a receiver and rusher, so they need to make sure he is fully healthy and prepared going into the upcoming season.
Key Matchup: Bears Defensive Line vs. Redskins Offensive Line
The Redskins O-line is decimated by injuries right now, with Jammal Brown and Kory Lichtenstein still recovering from injury and Trent Williams possibly missing some time, too.
Chicago should have Peppers in uniform, though he also missed the first game due to field conditions. He’s an elite pass-rusher that should be focusing in on bringing Griffin III to the ground any chance he gets.
There should be plenty of those, as the Skins will be without top RBs Roy Helu and Tim Hightower, leaving Evan Royster as the lead back.
Prediction
This should be a solid game between two evenly matched teams. However, the Skins have shown more during the preseason than the Bears—who should actually be able to put a TD on the board with Jay Cutler and Forte back on the field.
However, RGIII will dazzle and the Skins will remain undefeated in exhibition play.
