Jeremy Lin: Why Linsanity Will Explode Next Season for the Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets may not make the playoffs next season, but Jeremy Lin is going to have a monster year.
Last year, Lin exploded onto the scene, creating Linsanity with the New York Knicks. Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire were out of the lineup due to injuries, and Lin immediately led the Knicks on a seven-game winning streak.
He was everywhere on the court, using his quickness and speed to penetrate defenses, and he'd either score on a layup or kick the ball outside for one of his wide-open teammates. In the words of Frank "The Tank" Ricard: "It was glorious."
Then, Anthony returned to the lineup, and Lin and the Knicks struggled to adapt, winning only half their games until Lin was injured and Linsanity took an unintended vacation.
Now, Lin will lead the Rockets. He won't have anyone standing in his way next season. He'll be free to do what he does: create Linsanity.
Kevin Martin is the best scorer on the team, but according to TheIndyChannel.com, he could be the next veteran to be traded. He's the only player currently on the Rockets' roster who has averaged double-digit point totals for his career, and he might not even be with the team next season.
The Rockets are going to need Lin to be aggressive, and that's what he does best. He is brilliant with the ball in his hands, and as long as he stays healthy, he's set to explode next season.
It isn't out of the question for Lin to average more than 20 points and eight assists per game. The Rockets will pick-and-roll teams to death, and Lin's ability to shoot and pass will flourish.
This is Lin's team. He's the main man now, and he's going to make a major impact in a positive way for the Rockets going forward.
