Brooklyn Nets: 5 Players the Nets Could Still Look to Bring in
The Brooklyn Nets have had an exciting offseason thus far.
They achieved their biggest goal of re-signing Deron Williams. They traded for a top five shooting guard in Joe Johnson and re-signed Gerald Wallace, who is a versatile veteran player that brings so many different things to their team.
They also were in the middle of more Dwight Howard drama, but ultimately ended up re-signing Brook Lopez to a huge contract.
With all this going on, the Nets still have to fill out a roster. Here is a look at five players that the Nets could and should consider trying to bring with them to Brooklyn.
Kris Humphries
1 of 5With the Nets out of the Dwight Howard talks, Kris Humphries remains a free agent. That means they can try to bring him back.
Humphries is known by many as Mr. Kim Kardashian. However, he is actually a solid basketball player. He averaged a double-double last season and has continued to improve as a power forward in the league.
Not only is Humphries a solid defender and rebounder, he has also developed a strong offensive game that features a solid post game and mid-range jumper. His rebounding abilities will help make up for Brook Lopez's struggles in that area.
The Nets should figure out how to get Humphries back on their team.
Derek Fisher
2 of 5The Nets have their star players. Now they are adding the right role players that can help make them contenders.
One player they could consider bringing in is Derek Fisher. He is a veteran point guard with plenty of experience on successful teams.
Fisher has appeared in four out of the last five NBA Finals and has won five NBA Championships in his career. He may not be close to the player he once was, but Fisher gives the Nets a veteran leader that they could use.
Robin Lopez
3 of 5The Nets re-signed Brook Lopez after not being able to make a trade for Dwight Howard. They probably helped ease the frustration that Lopez might have had with the max-contract they gave him. In addition to the new contract, the Nets could help make Lopez feel better by bringing in his twin brother Robin.
Robin Lopez is a restricted free agent with the Phoenix Suns. He played together with Brook at Stanford.
Robin would also give the Nets a solid backup center to his brother Brook. While he does not have the same kind of talent offensively, he is the same size as his brother and is often considered the better and more aggressive defender and rebounder.
Robin has not been given a significant amount of minutes, but in the last three seasons he has averaged 15.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and two blocks per 36 minutes.
The Nets invested a lot in Brook Lopez, and if having his brother on the team could help him and their team, it seems like a solid move.
Antawn Jamison
4 of 5According to Fox Sports' Sam Amico, the Nets have some interest in veteran Antawn Jamison. They are discussing a possible sign-and-trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers that would land Jamison in a Brooklyn.
If your saying to yourself, "that guy has been around forever," you are right. He is 36 years old and a 14-year veteran. Having said that, he still is a very productive player.
Last season, Jamison played in 65 out of the 66 games for the Cavaliers. He averaged 33.1 minutes, 17.2 points and 6.3 rebounds a game.
Jamison could get significant minutes and be a solid sixth man on the Nets. Adding Jamison would most likely solidify the Nets as a top-four team in the Eastern Conference.
Kenyon Martin
5 of 5Kenyon Martin does not have many years left in his career. He was drafted by the Nets with the first overall pick in the 2000 draft. Martin was a high-flying power forward that brought a ton of excitement, energy, defense, scoring and rebounding.
However, he is now 34 years old and has lost some of that bounce in his step. Much of that is because of the issues with both of his knees.
Even still, Martin would be a valuable piece to help fill out the Nets roster. Also the idea of Martin in a Nets jersey again is definitely intriguing.
