WWE Chatter
The go-home edition of RAW took place this week ahead of Sunday's No Way Out pay-per-view and there was plenty to talk about. Vince McMahon returned for the three-hour show to give a job evaluation to general manager John Laurinaitis. Additionally, Dolph Ziggler became No. 1 contender for Sheamus' World Heavyweight Championship, and the John Cena vs. Big Show feud continued as well.
Question on Everybody's Mind: Should Vince return to television on a full-time basis?
The crowd was hot for Vince's return on Monday and he didn't disappoint as he did a little bit of everything. He did plenty of work on the mic, danced with the Funkadactyls and did an impression of Jim Ross in a poorly received moment. Whatever the case, McMahon is an entertainer and the WWE Universe loves to see him.
Ring Rust Radio's Take
There's no telling whether Vince is even considering returning in an on-screen role, but the Ring Rust Radio crew would certainly embrace it. It is often said that WWE programming is better when a McMahon is on television, and it's tough to argue with that.
Even if Vince can't be as physical as he once was, he can still cut excellent promos and can be a far superior authority figure to Laurinaitis. Even though the fans want Vince back, though, it looks like Laurinaitis has the backing of the WWE brass despite his repeated flubs.
Bleacher Report Insider Scoop: Should Vince McMahon Be on WWE TV?
ROH Interview with Michael Elgin
Ring of Honor star Michael Elgin joined Ring Rust Radio for a second time and he certainly didn't disappoint.
After Elgin's last appearance on the show, he went on to have a five-star match against former ROH Heavyweight Champion Davey Richards and the bout is now a front runner for Match of the Year honors.
That dominated the conversation, as did his upcoming battles against Jay Lethal and Fit Finlay.
Question on Everybody's Mind: What will Elgin do for an encore?
Elgin took the Ring Rust Radio rub and ran with it after his initial appearance, as have other ROH stars such as Adam Cole and Roderick Strong.
It would be asking a lot for Elgin to top his performance against Richards, but he has developed into an elite in-ring worker and should be able to put on a fantastic match with a wily veteran like Finlay.
Ring Rust Radio's Take
Perhaps Elgin won't put on another five-star match, but coming on Ring Rust Radio for a second time will only bode well for him moving forward.
Regardless of what happens in his match with Finlay, though, Elgin has a future world title shot to cash in whenever he pleases, so new ROH Heavyweight Champion Kevin Steen had better be wary of where "Unbreakable" is at all times.
Hopefully, the next time Elgin return to RRR to offer his fantastic insight, he will have gold around his waist.
Bleacher Report Insider Scoop: Latest WWE News and Rumors
Former WCW and ECW Star Scotty Riggs Guest Hosts
Former WCW and ECW Star Scotty Riggs made his triumphant return to Ring Rust Radio this week, albeit in a very different role. Rather than being an interviewee, Riggs filled in for panelist Michael Cahill and talked WWE with the RRR regulars.
Riggs continues to keep up with the business and had plenty of excellent opinions that added a whole new dimension to the show.
Question on Everybody's Mind: Should Scotty Riggs join RRR for good?
Michael Cahill will return next week, but Riggs did such an excellent job in his absence that there was been some talk about offering him a full-time gig.
Scotty is obviously an extremely busy man, but he could help take RRR to the next level. At the very least, Riggs is certainly on the show's radar as a fill-in whenever one of the regulars is busy with other endeavors.
Ring Rust Radio's Take
Obviously there aren't any plans to kick one of the fine panelists to the curb, but whenever Scotty wants to come on the show, he will certainly be welcomed with open arms.
He was very knowledgeable when it came to Vince McMahon, Ryback and many other WWE stars as he used his past experiences in WCW and ECW to analyze what is currently happening in WWE.
It isn't every day that a former star from two big promotions is willing to offer his opinions, but Ring Rust Radio has luckily had the fortune of having Riggs on twice. Hopefully, there will be many more occasions to entertain him in the future.
