Euro 2012: High-Octane Offenses That Will Continue to Thrill Fans

Patrick ClarkeJun 7, 2018

Euro 2012 continues Sunday with two epic clashes in Group C. Ireland will face Croatia in Poznan, but by far the most anticipating of the two matchups is Spain vs. Italy.

The previous two World Cup champions will surely be among the final teams playing for the European Cup this summer, making it a can't-miss battle of football powerhouses.

If I have to pick a winner though, I'll take Spain. The defending European champions boast an unrivaled passing game that produces plenty of chances and limits them for the other side.

It's a trait that makes them one of the high-octane offenses to watch in this summer's European Championship.

Russia

The Russians blasted the Czech Republic on Friday, putting up four goals in a span of 67 minutes. Alan Dzagoev scored twice for Russia, while the team together managed 16 shots total, seven of them on goal.

Andrei Arshavin is also a major weapon for Russia's attack, which is now playing with supreme confidence. Arshavin assisted on two of Russia's four goals on Friday in Wroclaw. Russia's high-octane offense will continue to thrill fans well into the knockout stages.

Spain

In four international friendly matchups this year, Spain has outscored their opponents 12-1. David Silva and La Roja feature one of the world's best possession-based offenses, capable of striking at any time.

The Spaniards will play their game regardless of what the opposition does, and their style will produce goals. One of their biggest weapons in David Villa is out for the tournament, but Spain's excellent midfield play and brilliant finishing will keep them in the hunt to repeat as champions in 2012.

Germany

Led by Mario Gomez up front, the Germans boast one of the most lethal scoring attacks in football. Though they only notched one goal against Portugal in their Group B opener on Saturday, it is safe to say that we haven't seen the last of Germany's fluid attack.

Mesut Ozil is a talented creator who will continue to spark the Germans in the midfield and in the final third as they make their push to get back to the European Championship final.
