Euro 2012 Schedule: Start Times, Live Stream and TV Info for Day 2 Action

Ryan RudnanskyJun 8, 2012

Euro 2012 couldn't have kicked off in a more exciting way, with Poland and Greece battling to a 1-1 draw in Warsaw and Russia exerting its dominance against the Czech Republic in Wroclaw.

Now we get set for Day 2 of the prominent tournament, where favorites Netherlands and Germany will look to make their marks. Netherlands will face Denmark while Germany will face Portugal.

Ever since winning Euro 1988, Netherlands has reached either the quarterfinals or the semifinals. In Euro 2008, Netherlands reached the quarterfinals, finishing sixth.

Germany is a three-time Euro champion and was runner-up to Spain in Euro 2008.

Here's a look at the Euro schedule for Saturday.

Netherlands vs. Denmark, 12 p.m. ET, ESPN/ESPN Deportes/ESPN3

Denmark reached the quarterfinals in 2004, but didn't qualify in 2008. It would be a shocker if Netherlands lost this match.

Denmark is widely considered to be worse than the Netherlands, with the Netherlands outclassing Denmark in skill and execution. They both have a similar style, with speed on the flanks and sharpshooters at center forward, but the difference is the Netherlands has Robben, Van Persie and Wesley Sneijder. That kind of superstar power is hard to ignore.

If Denmark has any shot in its opening match against the Netherlands, it's going to have to play seamlessly as a team. In short, Denmark is going to have to play fantastic soccer.

Germany vs. Portugal, 2:45 p.m. ET, ESPN/ESPN Deportes/ESPN3

Germany goes for its first Euro championship since 1996. This is its 11th straight title run.

Portugal is on its fifth straight title run and made it to the quarterfinals in 2008.

This is shaping up to be a solid match, with Germany as the heavy favorite. Many of Germany's starters played together for Bayern Munich, so the chemistry should be unquestioned, and the side also has Mario Gomez, who could be a big factor this year.

As for Portugal, we all know about Cristiano Ronaldo. He's one of the superstars of the tournament. Manchester United's Nani and Real Zaragoza forward Helder Postiga work well with Ronaldo, giving him opportunities to score.

But one of the reasons Portugal had an underwhelming qualifying campaign was because of its defense. The trio may attack well, but they also leave the defense susceptible. This team is talented, but not much is expected of it in Euro 2012, especially against a powerhouse like Germany.
