Euro 2012 Schedule: Previews and Predictions for Today's Matches
We were treated to a brilliant Day 1 at Euro 2012, and with the Group of Death kicking off in a matter of hours, today's action looks to be even better.
First up will be the supremely creative Netherlands squad against Denmark, who will unfortunately be without longtime goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen.
After that, we get Germany vs. Portugal, which should be one of the most entertaining matches in the entire tournament.

Netherlands vs. Denmark
Start Time: 12:00 p.m. ET
TV Coverage: ESPN
Last Meeting: Netherlands 2 - Denmark 0 (2010 World Cup)

As I mentioned above, the Danes will be without Stoke City keeper Thomas Sorensen, which is a major blow to their defense. Sorensen has 100 career caps with the national team, while the three goalies on the current roster (Sebastian Feuk, Dennis Jensen and Christian Larsen) have just 15 combined.
This is great news for the Netherlands, whose attack is loaded with world-class talent. With Mark van Bommel (AC Milan), Rafael van der Vaart (Tottenham), Wesley Sneijder (Inter Milan) and Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich) in the midfield, as well as the English Premier League's top goal scorer Robin van Persie up front, the Dutch should be able to overwhelm Denmark.
Prediction: Netherlands 2 - Denmark 1
Germany vs. Portugal
Start Time: 2:45 p.m. ET
TV Coverage: ESPN
Last Meeting: Germany 3 - Portugal 2 (Euro 2008)
Preview
It's almost a shame these two squads have to meet so early, as they should deliver one of the best matches of Euro 2012.
They put on a classic show at the last European Championship, with Germany prevailing thanks to a magical effort from midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger. Schweinsteiger is back this time around, as is most of the young squad that took third place at the 2010 World Cup.
The Germans will have a potent attack today, as Mesut Ozil and Thomas Muller should be in top form. Ozil led La Liga this season with 17 assists in 30 appearances, while Muller won the Golden Boot in the last World Cup. I'm expecting them to wreak havoc on the less-than-stellar Portugal defense.
Of course, Portugal will have a puncher's chance because of their fantastic midfielders Nani and Cristiano Ronaldo. They are two of the most explosive players in the tournament, and if they can fly past the German defense on the wings, they will create plenty of headaches for Joachim Low's squad.
Prediction: Germany 3 - Portugal 2
