NBA Rumors: Dwight Howard's Latest Comments Subtle Diss to Orlando Magic Fans
When the drama reaches TMZ, you know it’s out of control.
The Dwight Howard “will he/won’t he” saga with the Orlando Magic has been going on for over a year now, and things are starting to get ugly.
While he continues to rehab his back injury out in Los Angeles, apparently, he has plenty of time on his hands to talk to gossip websites. According to Royce Young of CBS Sports, Howard had some rather glowing words for the fans in Oklahoma City...maybe a bit too glowing:
"I think this is just their time. Just watching their games, watching their fans. A million people outside their arena and you've got the arena packed. That's just amazing. That's very inspirational. When you have a whole city behind you, it makes you want to go out and give everything you've got
"

This is some very strong praise for a franchise he has absolutely no affiliation with, and I believe he did this with a purpose. He was trying to make the point that his city isn’t behind him, which makes it hard to “give everything you’ve got.”
Currently 3,000 miles away from the state of Florida, he decided to subtly jab the only franchise he has ever played for. He makes it sound like the city of Orlando isn’t behind him, and that’s just lame. Why should they be behind a guy that has completely sucked the life out of their beloved franchise? Why should they get behind a team that employs a player who may or may not have had a coach with a .641 career winning percentage fired?
Yesterday, SheridanHoops.com reported that Howard could potentially be traded once the NBA draft lottery is selected, based on a meeting between owner Rich DeVos and CEO Alex Martins in Michigan last week. Predictably, a source who spoke with Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel denied that report.
Nobody knows what the heck is going on, but you get the sense that it will only be a matter of time before the divorce is final.
In keeping with the marriage comparisons, it’s like Howard is currently separated from the Magic out in L.A., eventually seeking divorce. The organization senses this and wants to be the one with the final say in regard to the divorce proceedings.
It’s ugly in Orlando, and as long as Howard continues subtly jabbing the fans that have rooted for him since 2004, things won’t be changing anytime soon.
