Eli Manning on SNL: New York Giants QB Doesn't Disappoint in Comedic Debut

Austin GreenJun 1, 2018

He's no Chris Farley or Will Ferrell, but the calm, quiet, seemingly-neurotic Eli Manning is actually one funny dude.

In his debut as host of Saturday Night Live, Manning played it like he usually does on the field. He was safe and a little awkward early, but he built up some steam as the night progressed, providing a few great highlights and a solid overall performance.

Manning did a little bit of everything during the show, from Tebowing, to playing an Occupy Wall Street protester, to dressing up in drag under the pseudonym "Miss Chicken Fried Steak."

The best skit by far, though, was a mock public service announcement for an organization called "Little Brothers." It was a perfectly done piece about a group that helps little brothers get revenge against their abusive older siblings.

It was reminiscent of Peyton Manning's classic United Way skit, as the normally respectful and politically correct Manning solved problems by dishing out wedgies and swirlies. He even dropped a bleeped out F-bomb and locked Andy Samberg in a trunk.

The overall performance wasn't as good as Peyton's back in 2007, but it should be enough to boost Eli into superstardom. He's already proved that he's a Hall of Fame-caliber quarterback on the field, and with this solid showing on NBC's iconic program, he reached a whole new audience.

With two Super Bowl victories, Manning was already a superstar in the sports world. Now, he has extended his reach to the non-sports watching public, as well.

Don't be surprised if we see a lot more of Eli Manning in the coming months.
