WWE Raw SuperShow Preview: 5 Things to Expect on Tonight's Show

Kaleb KelchnerApr 30, 2012

The WWE Raw SuperShow goes live tonight following last night's epic WWE Extreme Rules 2012 pay-per-view. As usual with WWE pay-per-views, the fallout on Raw the following night features feud developments (old and new) and closure, and Bleacher Report has picked the top five things to expect on tonight's show.

John Cena overcame Brock Lesnar in their Extreme Rules match after being rocked by Lesnar's shoot wrestling style, in a move that caught many fans off guard.

Cena was selling an arm injury caused by Lesnar's kimura lock, and cut a promo hinting at some time off before Extreme Rules went off the air. Lesnar didn't look too hot either, as he stumbled at ringside looking stunned.

CM Punk retained his WWE Championship in an exciting Chicago Street Fight with Chris Jericho in front of his hometown crowd. With Punk successfully defending the title against Jericho twice in a row, has their feud reached its end?

We'll take a look at how we expect these angles to play out tonight and more in the following slides! Sound off with predictions and expectations of your own in the comments section.

Triple H Confronts John Laurinaitis on Brock Lesnar's Contract

1 of 5

Triple H was teased for tonight's show on Extreme Rules last night in a surprise telephone call John Laurinaitis received.

Tonight, Triple H will make an appearance on Raw, and I believe I know why.

Last week, John Laurinaitis caved to all of Brock Lesnar's unreasonable demands, which were delivered in an awkward promo when John Cena wasn't around for a contract signing. I doubt the WWE brass is happy that Laurinaitis gave Lesnar so much power on live television.

Triple H will tear into Johnny Ace, with plenty of ridicule of "People Power" and other Johnny-isms.

I'll address where I believe this will lead a little further down the list.

The Sheamus/Daniel Bryan Feud Gets an Extension

2 of 5

If the End of an Era Hell in a Cell Match between Triple H and Undertaker never happened earlier this month at WrestleMania 28, last night's match between Sheamus and Daniel Bryan would be the current match of the year.

Sheamus successfully defended his World Heavyweight Championship against Daniel Bryan in their best 2 out of 3 Falls match. There was a ton of ring psychology and great action throughout, leading to a dramatic title defense that came across great on television.

Oh, and it went a lot longer than 18 seconds.

I suspect that this quality showing between the two will lead to an extension of their feud rather than Sheamus moving on to other heels. There doesn't have to be some sort of left-field development that keeps the feud going, but I wouldn't rule it out.

CM Punk Is Positioned to Feud with Lord Tensai

3 of 5

CM Punk defeated Chris Jericho on his home turf last night, and I think we may see Punk move on to a new feud, if only for a while.

Lord Tensai has been crushing opponents left and right, including John Cena. Considering how John Laurinaitis views Tensai favorably, and his history with Punk, I could see him trying to put Tensai in front of the champion to change things up.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind being wrong on this one, but Tensai is on the way up, and there are limited options for him at the top.

John Cena Announces That He Is Taking Time off with Injury

4 of 5

This is a softball prediction, but one so important that it must be listed.

John Cena will announce that he's taking time off with injury, likely a torn rotator cuff from Brock Lesnar's kimura last night at Extreme Rules.

It'll likely be straightforward and very similar to the promo he cut last night. Now that he has visited doctors, he can make his time off official.

Brock Lesnar Sparks a Feud with Triple H

5 of 5

I told you I'd be revisiting this later in the slideshow.

With John Cena out of the picture, I'm expecting Brock Lesnar to turn his sights on Triple H.

Triple H will come against Lesnar and his contract, and Lesnar will have none of it. There will be a face off, and knowing Lesnar, things may very well get physical.

If anyone can get extreme with Lesnar, it's the Cerebral Assassin.
