WWE Extreme Rules 2012 Results: 7 Superstars Who Should Have Had a Match
Full of exciting spots, grudge feuds and great matches, Extreme Rules was an all-around tremendous PPV which the company should be patting themselves on the back for.
However, good as it was, it was also notable for who wasn't on the card. Maybe it was due to time restraints or WWE simply not having any ideas for them, but several wrestlers who should have had a match were unjustly left off the show.
With this in mind, here is a list of the seven biggest snubs at Extreme Rules...
Jack Swagger
1 of 7Surely WWE could have found a spot on the Extreme Rules for a talented wrestler like Swagger? Alas, the former World Heavyweight Champion continues to flounder in the WWE mid-card, as the writing team refuses to use him in a meaningful manner. Even here, he was used as strictly a supporting character, accompanying Dolph Ziggler to the ring as he took on Brodus Clay in an unannounced match.
It's deeply frustrating, but the situation doesn't look to be changing any time soon, as WWE continue to prove their frightening habit of squandering the talents of their most promising stars.
Kelly Kelly
2 of 7At one time the company's most pushed female wrestler, the former WWE Divas Champion has been forgotten about in recent times as the company shifts its attention onto Eve Torres, the Bella twins and a returning Layla El. Ideally, WWE could have helped her floundering profile and placed her in the Nikki Bella bout after Beth Phoenix was written out, making her the mystery opponent.
They chose not to do that here, but hopefully, the former bikini model will have a prominent slot the next pay-per-view show. With her looks, decent in-ring skills and charisma, she can surely still be a huge asset to the company.
Mark Henry
3 of 7Henry's once-strong push has petered out in recent times due to injuries and his reported heat with management. As his status in the company plummets, the booking team appear to be at a loss for what to with the former World Heavyweight Champion, and unsurprisingly, he was left off of the Extreme Rules pay-per-view.
This is unfortunate, considering how red-hot Mark Henry was as Smackdown's top heel late last year. Indeed, at a time when the company is struggling to find fresh heels on top, it seems unwise to squander Henry's considerable talents. Hopefully, the company will realize their mistake and move to rectify this, preferably by placing Henry on a high-profile spot on the next show.
R-Truth
4 of 7After high-profile spots at Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania, R-Truth found himself left off of Extreme Rules, and the creative team seem to have ran out of ideas for star.
Now what would Little Jimmy have to say about that?
Zack Ryder
5 of 7The YouTube sensation has been stuck in a career in lull recently, with his credibility being greatly damaged by numerous one-sided beatings by Kane at the beginning of the year, as well as a truly rotten romance angle with WWE diva Eve (she basically walked all over him for months before embarrassingly dumping him at WM 28). Once a highly popular mid-card act, Ryder is now at risk of becoming a lower card joke.
As if things aren't bad enough, he didn't get a match at Extreme Rules either. Oh, he got a quick cameo, in which he attacked Kane backstage during his Falls-Count-Anywhere match with Randy Orton, but Kane didn't seem to care much and totally no-sold him. Zack looked even more ridiculous than ever, if such a thing was possible.
To all this, we can only say: Are you serious, Bro?
Natalya
6 of 7As one of their most beautiful and talented female wrestlers, WWE really should do more with third-generation diva Natalya. And no, her most recent "flatulence" angle doesn't count. When was the last time this girl had a match on pay-per-view?
Lord Tensai
7 of 7As WWE's newest monster heel star, shouldn't Lord Tensai have been give a prominent role on the show?
Certainly, the former Albert seems to be struggling to carve himself a role on WWE TV since he debuted earlier this month, with many fans labelling his scary monster act dull and uninspired and his in-ring skills as mediocre at best. With this in mind, leaving him off the PPV only serves to emphasis his lack of relevance.
