WrestleMania 28: 5 Things to Look for in Tonight's Post-WrestleMania Raw Show

Drake OzApr 2, 2012

See ya later, WrestleMania 28. It's been real.

After more than a year of hype that made WrestleMania 28 one of the most anticipated 'Manias in recent memory, we can officially put it in the rear-view mirror.

It's done. It's over. It's now in the history books. Well, kinda.

The result of last night's big pay-per-view are still going to have a major effect on the WWE going forward and, more specifically, on tonight's huge episode of Monday Night Raw.

So, what should we expect to see on the first post-WrestleMania 28 show for the WWE?

Here are five things you need to look for in tonight's episode of the show we love, Monday Night Raw.

5. The Start of the "Team Johnny Era"

1 of 5

Team Johnny emerged from WrestleMania 28 victorious last night after The Miz pinned Zack Ryder, and the result of this match taught us two things: 1) We're never going to see Teddy Long make another tag team match again, and 2) John Laurinaitis now controls both Raw and Smackdown.

This should definitely shake things up considerably, because both of the WWE's major shows will now be controlled by a heel authority figure, so we could see some major changes to the WWE as a whole.

We now have to wonder what exactly Raw and Smackdown will be like under Laurinaitis' control and whether or not he continues to favor the heels, especially The Miz.

Since The Miz got that huge victory for Team Johnny, Laurinaaitis certainly owes Miz a reward or two since he wouldn't have a career if it wasn't for him.

Will that come into play? And how will the "Team Johnny Era" change the landscape of the WWE?

I guess we'll start to find out on tonight's Raw.

4. A Huge 10-Man Tag Team Match

2 of 5

WWE has advertised a huge 10-man tag team match for the main event of tonight's Raw.

We can expect to see John Cena, CM Punk, Randy Orton, The Big Show and Sheamus take on the team of Kane, Mark Henry, Cody Rhodes, Daniel Bryan and Chris Jericho.

It looks like, with the exception of The Rock, this match will consist almost entirely of WrestleMania 28 opponents, and it's clearly as star-studded a match as you'll see in the WWE.

What should be interesting to see is how the WWE books this bout (who beats who, whether the match ends in a melee, etc.) because how it shapes up could give us a pretty strong indication of what direction they plan on going with these feuds.

While I would expect most of these rivalries to extend at least until Extreme Rules, the WWE may choose to end a feud or two tonight and possibly even start a new one.

3. The End of the Line for Some Major Stars?

3 of 5

Tonight's Raw could be the end of the line for two of the biggest stars in WWE history: The Rock and Chris Jericho.

In what could be an indication that he's either moving on from the WWE or from his feud with CM Punk (or perhaps neither since Jericho is a heel and heels lie), Jericho wrote something very interesting on Twitter this morning:

"

“Feel like I got run over by a truck…and in a way I did. The better man won last night. I guess its time for me to move on.”

"

There has been no real word on how long Jericho is going to be in the WWE this time around, and many have speculated that his feud with Punk will be his last, so we could see Jericho's career start winding down on tonight's Raw.

Also, what about The Rock?

While The Rock won't be able to be a WWE full-timer anytime soon because of his busy movie career, last night's WrestleMania 28 pay-per-view made me think that he could at least be sticking around for another match or two.

I just don't think that the WWE would have put The Rock over John Cena if he wasn't going to wrestle again at some point down the road, possibly in a rematch against Cena.

Whatever the case may be, we should hear from The Rock on tonight's Raw and find out what his future does or does not hold.

The same can be said about Triple H and Undertaker, who gave us a fantastic Hell in a Cell match last night and may or may not be on WWE TV tonight or as we move forward.

2. Batista or Brock Lesnar?

4 of 5

Rumors were swirling over the weekend that Brock Lesnar was in Miami meeting with WWE officials and is expected to return to the company soon.

Oh yeah, there are also reports that Batista could be in line for a WWE return, too.

Obviously, this would be absolutely huge for the WWE, as bringing in one or two of the biggest names of the last decade could set up some great storylines and feuds for the rest of 2012 and even into 2013.

While there's been no confirmation that either Batista or Lesnar is definitely coming back to the WWE, the thought of potential feuds like The Undertaker vs. Lesnar should make tonight's episode of Raw one of the most anticipated (if not the most anticipated) shows of the year.

This is probably the most excited I've been about Raw since The Rock's return in 2011.

1. Possible Announcement of the WrestleMania 29 Main Event

5 of 5

On the episode of Raw after WrestleMania 27, the WWE announced that The Rock vs. John Cena would headline WrestleMania 28.

Apparently, company officials are considering doing something similar this year.

"

WWE officials are looking to announce the main event for WrestleMania 29 this year—possibly on the RAW Supershow the night after WrestleMania 28. The belief is that the RAW after WrestleMania 28 will be the highest-rated of the year.

Right now officials are looking at John Cena, The Rock, Steve Austin and The Undertaker as the top guys to build next year around. Regarding Austin, he has not committed to wrestling another match yet.

"

Announcing the WrestleMania 28 main event so early last year paid huge dividends for the WWE, creating a great feud between The Rock and Cena that will likely result in a very good WrestleMania buy rate.

So it shouldn't really come as a surprise that the WWE may do this again. If the company has the stars it wants to build its WrestleMania 29 main event around already under contract, then I wouldn't be surprised to see that match announced on tonight's Raw.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. CM Punk? Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker? I have no idea.

But I know one thing: I'm almost giddy just thinking about it.

Note: As part of the new WWE blog, I'll be asking all of the B/R wrestling readers for questions for a new mailbag that I will post on Fridays. It will be a slideshow featuring 10-20 questions and answers on a wide range of topics. You can submit questions either through Formspring or Twitter, and the best ones will be answered in the B/R mailbag.
