College Football Recruiting 2013: 7 Recruits Who Must Be Seen Live
With recruiting being a national feat, it's nearly impossible to see all of the top players play live and in-person.
Die-hard recruiting fans may want to, but the airfare, travel schedule and many other logistics play into this being basically impossible.
But what if you had the chance to go see a couple top prospects play? Who would you want to go see? Why? Well, for this read, I'm going to give you my list of recruits that I would relish at the opportunity to go see play live and evaluate up close.
Check it out.
7. Cooper Bateman, QB
1 of 7Bateman would draw me to fly up to Utah to go see in person. He's a 6'3", 205-pound QB that has a "wow" trait to his game: his arm strength.
Watching him on film, I really see the ball fired out with velocity, and after reading up on Bateman, it seems many people marvel at his arm strength.
I know this trait is not the defining measure of a QB's projected success, but the talk of Bateman's rocket arm makes we want to go see it in person.
6. Derrick Henry, RB
2 of 7Not sure about you, but when I see that a 6'3", 240-pound football player in high school is one of the nation's best prospects, that peaks my interest.
But what also would make me have to go see Henry in person is the fact that at his size, his actual best playing trait is his speed. To see someone that big and that fast would be an awesome site in person.
Henry is headed to Georgia in 2013, but I want to see him play in 2012.
5. Reuben Foster, LB
3 of 7Foster is one of the best overall defensive prospects to come out in years. He's nearly 6'2", weighs 240-pounds and is ready to play college football today.
The Alabama commit would be a must-see for me so I could check out his instinctive playing style, combined with sizing him up on the hoof, his speed, quickness, vision to ball carriers, versatility and thumping ability as a wrap tackler.
Look for Foster to be a star in Tuscaloosa.
4. Robert Foster, WR
4 of 7Our second Foster on this list is from Pennsylvania, and I'd love to fly into Philly, gobble up a cheesesteak and then head over to Monaca to see Foster play.
He's 6'2", 190 pounds, plays receiver and may be the most explosive offensive player in the country for 2013. His release quickness is like watching a classic movie to an evaluator like myself, and I would also be giddy to see his deep speed.
Foster's definitely a must-see.
3. Ty Isaac, RB
5 of 7Isaac may the most intriguing prospect to me in the 2013 class. I would love to see him play in person, as the thought of a 6'3", 220-pound running back with great speed, elusiveness and hands excites me.
He has a chance to be a complete back in college, tote the rock 20-25 times a game, all while staying on the field on third downs thanks to his ability to factor as a receiver out of the backfield.
I'd love to see Isaac in person.
2. Robert Nkemdiche, DE
6 of 7Well he's the nation's best player, so that alone puts him on this list. Even you yourself have to be intrigued enough to go see what everyone is talking about in regards to Nkemdiche.
He's a 6'5", 270-pound man-child of a player that can play DE, DT, OLB and also will tote the rock for his team as an RB too.
To see his frame, power, strength, explosiveness, speed, tenacity and competitiveness in a live game setting would be a treat for me.
1. Thomas Tyner, RB
7 of 7If speed kills, then Thomas Tyner is a serial killer because he's the faster player in the country. At 6'0" and 200 pounds, Tyner can turn the corner on any defense, and once he squares his shoulders, he's gone.
I'd absolutely love to see him break off a few long runs in person, just to see his speed personally in a game setting. If Tyner can stay healthy, he should leave as one of the best RBs to ever play for Oregon.
He's the No. 1 player I'd want to see play live and in-person.
