College Football Recruiting 2013: Power Ranking Top 3 WR Recruits in the Nation
The wide receiver class of 2013 is mighty crowded from the top down.
There is no Dorial Green-Beckham, but there is a number of worthy candidates vying for the No. 1 spot.
The state of Texas has arguably the best crop of receivers all the way through, and a few have already committed to the in-state Longhorns and Aggies, but there are plenty of others to speak of as well.
The top three, however, is heavy on the Lone Star state.
1. Ricky Seals-Jones, Sealy (TX) Sealy—Committed to Texas
It is not just the towering 6'5", 220-pound frame of RS-J that makes him look so dominant amongst his competition. The Texas commit has played quarterback, wide receiver, linebacker and safety, and makes every thing he does look easy.
The Scout 5-star and Rivals 4-star recruit is best suited for life as a wide receiver at the next level though.
He has elite potential and is likely to be an immediate contributor for Mack Brown. If he takes to coaching at the receiver position he could become unstoppable.
2. Robert Foster, Monaca (PA) Central Valley—Undecided
Shorter in stature, but not in playmaking ability, the Pennsylvanian native checks in around 6'2", 185 pounds and can flat out fly. The Scout 5-star and Rivals 4-star recruit is being courted by the likes of Alabama, Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Tennessee and others.
Foster has rare explosion and is a threat to score every time he touches the football. He's not only an offensive weapon, but he'll be an immediate weapon as a return man as well.
He still has a some growing and learning to do, but has elite potential.
3. Derrick Griffin, Rosenberg (TX) Terry—Committed to Texas A&M
The 6'6", 215-pound prospect is a gifted athlete with great potential—he could choose to play basketball if he wishes.
Already committed to A&M, the Scout 5-star and Rivals 4-star recruit uses his elite hoops skills to his advantage on the football field with relative ease. He's a strong, big-bodied weapon who can box out defenders and high-point footballs, but can also run by them with surprising speed for his size and frame.
Griffin will continue to grow as a football player, and there is no telling how good he could be when all is said and done. He doesn't have top-notch production, but he does have top-notch potential.
