Tim Tebow Trade Rumors: 5 Reasons Denver Broncos QB Is Worth Trading for

Mike MoraitisJun 7, 2018

Now that Peyton Manning has landed with the Denver Broncos, Tim Tebow is trade bait and is a must-have for many teams in the NFL.

So far, it's being reported by ProFootballTalk that there are four teams interested in the former Florida Gators star: New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars, Green Bay Packers and Miami Dolphins.

However, according to the same source, the Dolphins might not be in the running because of a possible split in desire for Tebow's services.

However, looking at all four teams, each of them has a perfect fit for the several roles Tebow is capable of fitting.

Here's why Tebow is worth trading for.

Starting experience

In his first season as a starter with the Broncos, Tebow took a flailing mess of a team and helped turn its season around. After Tebow took the reins, Denver went on a six-game win streak that propelled it to the playoffs with the help of his defense putting him in position to win games.

Although he did look lost at many points during 2011, any quarterback in his first year as a starter would kill to have the experience and success Tebow did.

And he beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in a playoff game.

Not even the biggest hater can deny that Tebow's career as a starter so far has been a success.

Best fit: Jaguars and Dolphins

Locker room presence

If you spoke to a group of 50 people and asked them about Tebow, you would likely get 50 different answers about his play on the field. However, one thing that would be in total agreement is that Tebow is a nice guy. With a background of a religious upbringing, Tebow could positively influence even the most troubled player.

In turn, locker rooms with turmoil could rally around Tebow's never-fading faith in himself and the team around him. Whether they took him seriously or not, it could still bring a team together.

Best fit: New York Jets

Solid backup

As I mentioned before, Tebow got a great deal of starting experience going to the playoffs with the Broncos last season.

That type of success can only make him an even better backup. Most career backups barely put down the clipboard during their tenure in the NFL, but Tebow has done much more than that.

He would be a great insurance policy for any team unsure at the position and instantly brings a winning pedigree with him.

Best fit: Packers and Jets

Wildcat and trick-play offense

The only reason Tebow had any measure of success without any preparation as a result of the NFL Lockout last season was because of Broncos' coach John Fox changing his offense to a more college quarterback-friendly system.

While none of the teams in pursuit of Tebow will change its offense to accommodate him in a starting role, there is always a place for trick plays in every offense that would keep the opposing defense honest.

Tebow ran that type of offensive attack to near perfection in the NFL last season, and having him run just a portion of the offense in the Wildcat will add a deadly dimension to any team's attack—especially those in desperate need of more yards on the ground.

Best fit: Jets, Jaguars, Packers, Dolphins

Media and fan attention

Another thing almost everyone with an opinion of Tebow can agree on is the amount of media attention he brings with him wherever he goes. The media frenzy has networks doing one-hour specials on the man while the fan frenzy has honest sports writers getting threatened on a regular basis.

Tebow will put butts in the seats and steal the front cover of the sports section at any of his possible destinations. Don't forget the jersey sales as well.

More attention means more money.
