Tim Tebow to Packers: Trade Would Be Terrible Move for Both Sides
The Green Bay Packers are one of four teams reportedly interested in making a trade with the Denver Broncos for polarizing quarterback Tim Tebow. It's a move that wouldn't make sense for either side, so everybody involved should abandon the idea.
First and foremost, Tebow still believes he can be a successful starting quarterback in the NFL. He's worked hard to improve every area of his game, and although the upgrades have been minor at best, he wants to prove his worth.
Aaron Rodgers is firmly entrenched as the starter in Green Bay. He isn't Kyle Orton. Tebow won't be able to take his job if he has an off game or two throughout the season, so his dreams of starting would be limited to injuries or games where the Packers were resting starters for the playoffs.

Above all else, Tebow is a fiery competitor. He doesn't have the natural talent of Rodgers or new Broncos signal caller Peyton Manning, but he certainly matches their will to win.
You have to wonder how being relegated to the bench after the shocking ride he took the Broncos on last season would impact him mentally. His numbers weren't amazing and he received help from his defense, but he made sure the job got done in the fourth quarter.
It would be hard to accept a full-time reserve role after that, but that's exactly what his job would be with the Packers.
From Green Bay's perspective, Tebow simply isn't a good fit. Aside from being a team-first player, which is what the Packers pride themselves on, there's not much to believe he'd be successful if Rodgers were forced to miss time.
The Packers would need to make major changes one of the league's best offenses to fit Tebow's ability. He doesn't have the ability to stand in the pocket and throw darts all over the field like Rodgers. His limitations are well-documented.
They do need to find a backup quarterback after Matt Flynn bolted for an opportunity to start with the Seattle Seahawks. Instead of taking a long-shot chance on Tebow, they should just find somebody with more experience who would be able to hold down the fort if Rodgers went down.
Green Bay also doesn't need any added distractions after a disappointing playoff exit last season. It's not Tebow's fault that the spotlight follows him wherever he goes, but it's something teams have to consider before bringing him aboard.
All told, a Packers trade for Tebow doesn't make any sense. He's not a good fit in Green Bay and there are better options available for both sides.
