Tim Tebow Trade Rumors: Why the Miami Dolphins Must Steer Clear of Tebow
Just because Tim Tebow is on the trading block and the Miami Dolphins missed out on Peyton Manning and then were spurned by Matt Flynn, it doesn't mean they should look to acquire the Denver Broncos' southpaw quarterback.
Absolutely not.
Here's the thing. I like Tebow, I really do. I admired his leadership and courageous demeanor in college and have totally bought into the whole "proving everyone wrong" bit.

Colts Release Kenny Moore

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
However, he's not remotely close to being a competent starting quarterback in the NFL.
Sure, his "heroics" helped the Broncos win a wildly inconsistent AFC West last year, but he was clearly a hindrance to their offensive game plan due to his inaccurate arm and inability to read opposing defenses.
The Dolphins haven't enjoyed their offseason thus far, after Manning turned them down and Matt Flynn took his talents to Seattle. (LeBron really should have trademarked that saying.)
Now, Alex Smith is weighing his options between returning to the 49ers, the team that alienated him in their pursuit of Manning, or coming to Miami.
Even if Smith continues this unusual trend of players not wanting to join to the Dolphins, Tebow cannot be the answer.
Why?
Matt Moore.
He's not the most exciting name for 'Phins fans, but he quietly had an efficient season with Miami last year. Moore tossed 16 touchdown to nine interceptions and was the starter in every one of the team's six wins.
He's light-years ahead of Tebow as a passer and actually is a few months younger than the 49ers' Smith. His physical skill set isn't on par with Smith, but he seemed awfully comfortable in the Dolphins' system in 2011.
The Dolphins need a starting quarterback—a guy that can allow them to take the next step as a team. They can with Alex Smith or Matt Moore. Just not Tim Tebow.
With him, they'd take a step in the wrong direction.
