WWE News: Big Update on Ric Flair's Status for the Hall of Fame Ceremony

Imaan JalaliMar 4, 2012

On March 31, the foremost stable in wrestling history, The Four Horsemen, will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by the trio of Triple H, Shawn Michaels and Dusty Rhodes.

The legendary faction will be represented by Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Barry Windham, J.J. Dillon and their leader, Ric Flair.

While four of the five individuals will have no restrictions preventing them from appearing at the American Airlines Arena, it seems as if "The Nature Boy" may have a problem to wrangle with.

The reason is that, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via 411Mania.com), Flair has not, as of this past week, received clearance from his current employer:

"

Ric Flair has yet to be granted permission by TNA to attend the 2012 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. Flair is supposed to be inducted at the event as part of the Four Horsemen, his second induction. Flair has stated publicly that he will attend the event though and has yet to suggest otherwise.

"

Assuming Flair stays true to his word and shows up at the ceremony regardless of TNA's blessing, both he and the WWE could be in deep trouble.

For instance, TNA could pursue litigation against both Flair and the WWE.

The 16-time former world champion would be in violation of his contract obligations, and the WWE would be at fault for enabling the breach as well as the resultant punitive damages.

However, it's difficult to say whether TNA, which has teetered on the precipice of existence for years, would pursue what very well could be a drawn-out, expensive battle in the courtroom.

But if they did, the burden of proof would, for all intents and purposes, lie on Vince McMahon's broad shoulders.

Given the fact that TNA would technically be in the right, it would be quite the uphill challenge for Jerry McDevitt and his team of WWE attorneys to prove the company was not guilty of any willful wrongdoing.
