5 WrestleMania 28 Moments That Should Happen

Tom ClarkFeb 27, 2012

Wrestlemania 28 is only 33 days away.

Hard to believe, right?

It seemed like only yesterday that Triple H was this close to ending Undertaker's streak, CM Punk was once again losing a high-profile match and the Rock got the last word on John Cena by landing the People's Elbow in the middle of the ring.

It is amazing how time flies, and how much things have changed since then.

Triple H is now the Chief Operating Officer of WWE, and he had to be coaxed into an Undertaker rematch. Punk is riding high as the WWE Champion, and John Cena is taking the bull by the horns as he enters into his dream match against the Rock.

This year's event is being hailed as the one that may top them all, and though we have heard that before, there is no doubt that this particular WrestleMania card is shaping up to be something special.

So, what are we looking for this year?  Who are the favorites?  What events could take place to ensure that WrestleMania 28 will be a memorable one indeed, one for the record books?  Every fan has their own take on this one, their own thoughts of what they would like to see, and what should happen.

You guessed it, I am no different.  Here are my own top five.

Sheamus Should Have a Grand Entrance

1 of 5

Since he turned baby face and became the Great White in 2011, Sheamus has been on a roll.  He has never been more popular, or more in demand than he is right now. And by winning the Royal Rumble, he has been placed in a prime spot to become one of the top players in the company.

A guy like that deserves something big.

A grand entrance is definitely in order for the man who began on top, saw his career dip down to virtually nothing and has now reemerged as one of the big names on the roster.

The Celtic theme should be played up here, perhaps with Sheamus' ceremonial green robes and crown that he wore after winning King of the Ring.  A small detail of men dressed as Celtic Warriors, complete with spears and shields, would be a nice touch.

This type of entrance has, of course, been used by Triple H, more than once, in the past.  And this year, Hunter could likely have another spin on the way he hits the ramp himself.

But anything that could emphasize Sheamus' character, and represent the level to which WWE has reached in terms of pushing this guy, would go a long way in adding to his personality, and it would be something fans could really latch onto.

Sheamus has accomplished a lot in the year since Wrestlemania 27, and his entrance this year should reflect that growth.

Beth Phoenix Should Face Trish Stratus

2 of 5

It's an age-old question for fans anytime a performer is dominant in the company.

What if this worker could face another dominant legend?

This has never been more true than for Beth Phoenix, as from the moment she rose to power in the Divas division, Trish Stratus' name came up almost immediately.

Trish is, after all, the woman considered by many to be the top dog in women's wrestling, the lady who began her career as nothing more than eye candy but wanted to do more and became one of the most exciting, hard-working females WWE has ever seen.

Her reputation as arguably the best female wrestler in WWE history has never been touched, as she has never made any sort of legitimate comeback since her retirement.

A match against Beth would not damage her standing with fans in any real way, nor would it necessarily hurt Beth if she were to lose to Trish.

Most of the time, the Divas match would end up as the cue for snack time, or a bathroom break.  This one would be the exception.

Undertaker Should Defeat Triple H

3 of 5

The streak will not go on forever.

Despite how it ends, whether it's at the hands of another wrestler, or because he's finally hanging up the boots, Undertaker's WrestleMania streak will one day be done.

But it should not be at the hands of the Game.

Triple H is a legend in the business, a man who has seen and done it all.  His list of accomplishments is a mile long, and now that his career is slowly but surely beginning to transition to a more behind-the-scenes role, there is no reason for him to go over at 'Mania.

He has all the feathers in his cap that he could ever need.  Defeating Taker is not one that he needs to add.

I believe that when the time comes, Undertaker should lose to a younger star—a man who he can play a role in developing—to help push up the ladder in terms of hype, and character.  The torch should be passed, not ripped, from Taker's hand.

Triple H is the man, no doubt.  But he does not need to end Undertaker's WrestleMania streak to prove it.

Living Colour Should Perform CM Punk's Entrance Theme

4 of 5

What was the first thought you had when you heard "Cult of Personality" blaring across the sound system as CM Punk made his way down the ramp?

"Dude, Living Colour so needs to do this for him live."

The band is still together, and were very supportive of WWE using their most famous hit for CM Punk. With this being the case, there seems to be nothing that could stop this moment from happening.

Punk's heat with Chris Jericho is just beginning, and as we all know, Chris is the lead singer for his own rock band.  Imagine how much fun Punk could have with Y2J on this one.

"I know you have a lot of fun, jumping around on stage with Fozzy.  But I thought you might be curious to hear what a real rock and roll group sounds like."

Triple H was cool before Motorhead played him out at WrestleMania.  But it only added to his character, and it provided a moment that fans will never forget.

Punk deserves the same treatment, and considering that he has never been bigger in his career with the fan following he has, he should get it this year at WrestleMania 28.

The Rock Should Lose to John Cena

5 of 5

I'm guessing half of you love this one, and half of you are ready to pitch me off a roof, right?

Here's the thing when it comes to Rock and Cena at WrestleMania 28: There is no real sense in Rock winning the match.

Like John has said, Rock is not coming back after the event is over.  Yes, he may appear on Raw the night after, but then he's gone, back to the bright lights of Hollywood.  Where is the payoff for John if he loses?

Cena has said that this match means everything to him, and if that's true, and he loses to Rock, then where is the opportunity for redemption?  Are we to believe that he will take out his frustrations on an unsuspecting WWE locker room the night after WrestleMania and possibly turn heel because he has lost his spirit and his pride?

A Cena heel turn has been talked about for so long now, if it's going to happen, I believe it should happen against a worker who is actually on the active roster and can have a substantial feud with him.

If the Rock comes back after eight years, wins one match against the company's biggest name and then walks away, it will do nothing but provide a push where none is needed.  Rock will continue to be the guy who left on top, but left with putting no one else over in the process.

WWE is all about the transition, moving from one generation of Superstars to the next, keeping the company moving forward in the eyes of the fans.  This will not be accomplished if Rock goes over at WrestleMania.

Now I'm guessing half of you are applauding, while the other half are giving me the Stone Cold salute.

Oh well, can't win them all.
