Robert Griffin III Combine: Rams Are Big Winners from Heisman's Blazing 40
When Robert Griffin III's 40 time came in and it contained only one four, the brain trust for the St. Louis Rams had to be dancing around like they just won the showcase showdown on The Price is Right.
Griffin set fire to the track in Indianapolis. These times are unofficial, but his first attempt came in at 4.41. And his second time was even better.

And that 4.38 might drop when these times become official. The USA Today's Nate Davis reported that Gil Brandt of NFL.com had RGIII's 40 at 4.34.
Either number is absolutely blazing and will likely be one of the best of the combine. It is especially impressive for a QB.
Davis relayed information that the NFL network shared that a 4.38 would be the fastest time by a QB in at least 12 years. And no one is going to benefit more from this than the Rams.
Why the Rams Hit the Jackpot
St. Louis holds the second pick in the draft, and with promising QB Sam Bradford getting ready to enter his third year, they are not in the market to draft another QB.
But there are plenty of teams behind them that are.
There is a great chance that the Cleveland Browns will take Griffin with the fourth selection. That means QB-needy teams like the Dolphins, Redskins and Seahawks could all be anxious to jump ahead of the Browns for a chance to snag Griffin. And in turn, the Browns may want to bounce up to prevent that from happening.
Any team that was interested in Griffin before is going to be more interested now. 40 times certainly aren't the end-all-be-all for a QB, but the fact that Griffin's speed is this elite is just another reason for team's to believe that he has the goods for his dynamic playmaking ability to transition to the NFL.
In other words, interest in Griffin just got cranked up, and the Rams just have to sit back and watch teams bid against each other to swap places with them.
