2012 NFL Mock Draft: Breaking Down Potential Trade Teams in First Round
The unpredictable nature of teams to maneuver around using trades is just one reason that the first round of the NFL draft is so difficult to mock. It's inevitable to happen in every draft, but you just never know how teams will move up or down based on the way the draft plays out and how each team's board looks like.
On the surface, however, these teams look like they could wheel and deal in the first round:
St. Louis Rams: They are preparing to hold the RG3 auction for the No. 2 pick. They could make a killing off a quarterback-needy team.
Cleveland Browns: If they want Robert Griffin III, they have the draft capital to make the move up to No. 2.
Minnesota Vikings: The Vikings wouldn't mind moving down a few spots if they don't feel like there's value in anyone at No. 3.
Washington Redskins: Expect them to be in the RG3 race. But don't discount the Redskins either trading down in the first round or moving up from the second round to get a quarterback.
Kansas City Chiefs: They want one of the top offensive tackles, but it might take a deal to make that happen.
Green Bay Packers: If they can take and trade Matt Flynn, they'll have the kind of draft capital necessary to make a move up in the first round. Getting a pass-rusher is still a high priority.
New England Patriots: Two first-round picks means the Patriots will be fielding calls again in an effort to position themselves in future drafts.
