2012 NFL Mock Draft: How First-Round Receivers Performed at NFL Combine

Zach KruseJun 3, 2018

With Sunday's drills at the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine nearly complete, let's take a look at how the first-round receivers in our 2012 NFL mock draft fared in Indianapolis.

1.  Indianapolis Colts – Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford

2.  Cleveland Browns – Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor (via trade with St. Louis Rams)

3.  Minnesota Vikings – Matt Kalil, OT, USC

4.  St. Louis Rams – Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State (via trade with Cleveland Browns)

A hamstring injury kept Blackmon from running the 40-yard dash or going 100 percent in the receiver drills. Overall, Blackmon didn't do anything to drastically affect his stock either way because of the injury limitations. His pro day in March will be huge in deciding whether or not he's worth a top-5 pick.

5.  Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU

6. Washington Redskins – Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa

7.  Jacksonville Jaguars – Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame

Floyd weighed in at a slimmer 220 pounds and then tore up the 40-yard dash at just over 4.40 seconds. Both are pluses for Floyd, as he was a more electric playmaker in his early days at Notre Dame was he played a lighter weight. The speed should make sure he's a top-20 pick.

8.  Miami Dolphins – Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford

9.  Carolina Panthers – Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina

10.  Buffalo Bills – Courtney Upshaw, OLB, Alabama

11.  Kansas City Chiefs – Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama

12.  Seattle Seahawks – Michael Brockers, DT, LSU

13.  Arizona Cardinals – Melvin Ingram, DE/OLB, South Carolina

14.  Dallas Cowboys – Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama

15.  Philadelphia Eagles – Luke Kuechly, LB, Boston College

16.  New York Jets – Nick Perry, OLB, USC

17.  Cincinnati Bengals – David DeCastro, OG, Stanford

18.  San Diego Chargers – Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina

Any concerns about Jeffery's weight were put to rest when he came in at a solid 217 pounds. That was a real plus, especially considering some who previously said he was up over 230. However, Tony Pauline of Sports Illustrated said that some scouts were "unimpressed" with Jeffery during the interview process, and then Jeffery dipped out of all the workouts. This polarizing receiver still has a lot to prove at his pro day.

19.  Chicago Bears – Mike Adams, OT, Ohio State

20.  Tennessee Titans – Zach Brown, OLB, UNC

21.  Cincinnati Bengals – Lamar Miller, RB, Miami

22.  St. Louis Rams – Janoris Jenkins, CB, North Alabama

23.  Detroit Lions – Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina

24.  Pittsburgh Steelers – Cordy Glenn, OL, Georgia

25.  Denver Broncos – Fletcher Cox, DT, Mississippi State

26.  Houston Texans – Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor

Wright's "official" 40-yard dash time came in at 4.61 seconds. That's concerning, as some expected Wright to run in the 4.35-range at the combine. For a guy under six feet tall (5'10") and 200 pounds (188), he needs to run a better time at Baylor's Pro Day to quiet the fears that have now undoubtedly overtaken his draft stock.

27.  New England Patriots – Mark Barron, S, Alabama

28.  Green Bay Packers – Whitney Mercilus, DE/OLB, Illinois

29.  Baltimore Ravens – Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin

30.  San Francisco 49ers – Mohamed Sanu, WR, Rutgers

No one expected Sanu to blow away scouts in the 40-yard dash, but his unofficial times in the 4.60-second range probably aren't what he expected to run. In the receiver drills, however, Sanu proved his reliable hands. He didn't drop a pass and looked comfortable in and out of his breaks.

31.  New England Patriots – Devon Still, DT, Penn State

32.  New York Giants – Dont'a Hightower, LB, Alabama
