Klitschko vs. Chisora: Vitali Klitschko Wins by Decision in an Exciting Slugfest
Vitali Klitschko (44-2, 40 KO) defeated Dereck Chisora (15-3, 10 KO) in a wonderful heavyweight slugfest. This is probably the best heavyweight fight since Klitschko-Lewis.
Klitschko won by unanimous decision on the official judges' scorecards with scores of 118-110, 118-110 and 119-111. My official scorecard had it 116-112, Klitschko.
The 28-year-old Chisora came out with aggression and pressured Klitschko from the opening bell of Round 1 to the final bell of Round 12, backing the 40-year-old Klitschko up the entire time.
Chisora said in the post-fight interview with Epix's Chris Mannix that experience beat him and he wasn't lying. Despite the pressure Chisora exerted, Klitschko's accurate crisp shots told the story of the fight.
Chisora kept eating leather, but made Klitschko's ribs into a good drum every now and then. Klitschko even tired toward the end of the fight, resorting to many clenches to keep from suffering the persistent aggression of Chisora.
With time, Chisora could be the next British heavyweight world champion, but he still has a lot to learn. He didn't follow up on the shots he landed and he would sometimes stalk Klitschko while not throwing.
Great matchup! Chisora earns much respect while becoming one of the few to go a full 12 rounds with a Klitschko, while Klitschko racks up yet another victory in his historic career.
