Heat Rumors: Buzz Surrounding Lebron's Return to Cavs Is All for Show
With the Miami Heat coming off of an NBA Finals performance—as well as currently standing just below the Chicago Bulls in the Eastern Conference standings—the last thing anybody would expect to hear is some crazy situation surrounding the big three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
Well, of course we have drama, and as always it just adds onto the story of James and his departure from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
When James opted for Miami through his television broadcast of The Decision, many fans—Cavs' and others alike—didn't really take the way the event was done too kindly.
Perhaps anyone who wasn't living in Miami or a fan of the Heat was distraught for losing out on the man they call King James, or maybe it was just because it was so public and unnecessary.
Whatever be the case, James has taken on this whole sort of villain role since joining the Heat.
He seems to be embodying that role, as he continues to play this role of being King. In a recent report from the AP, James was asked if he would ever return to the Cavaliers. In response, James said:
"It would be fun to play in front of these fans again. I had a lot fun times in my seven years here. You can't predict the future and hopefully I continue to stay healthy. I'm here as a Miami Heat player, and I'm happy where I am now, but I don't rule that out in no sense.
And if I decide to come back, hopefully the fans will accept me.
"
First and foremost, what is he doing talking about that in the first place? If a reporter was to ask him a question such as that, he should just turn it away. Instead, he has Cavs fans drooling and Heat fans worrying.
It just seems like more drama and attention-seeking that James likes to provide in the entire show that has become his life. Even when teammates are asked about the situation, they play along.
James' star teammate Wade told the AP in the same report, "Anything is possible... Hopefully, I'm retired."
James still has two years after this season on his contract, as well as a player option for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons. With the likelihood that the Heat would never trade him, as well as the Cavs likely not being willing to trade their newer players for him, it is just silly that this talk is even being brought up with so much time between now and any possible future.
Things have taken an even bigger jump into the public's view as Yahoo Sports Adrian Wojnarowski reported that James' camp actually sent a note to Gibert:
"This was no accident, no misspeaking, nothing out of context. Before mentioning Thursday his openness to playing in Cleveland again, James months ago had an emissary or two carry that message to the Cavaliers’ front office, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. His camp wanted the message delivered to owner Dan Gilbert, sources said, but so far, the response has been silence.
"
According to the Orlando Sentinel, James went on to say that this was not true.
In all likelihood, it wasn't.
But the fact is that this story broke, and it all started with what James said to the press about a possible return to Cleveland.
Will James ever return? Maybe, but for now, it's all speculation that he is building off of talk he is making—something he shouldn't be doing while playing for another team.
If this is just how the whole situation between him and his former home is going to be, get ready, because we still have plenty more years of this scenario being discussed.
