Jeremy Lin: New Apartment Just the Beginning of Big Changes in Phenom's Life
The blessings keep rolling in for Jeremy Lin, and right now, his life must feel like a dream. Less than a week ago, Lin was sleeping on his brother's couch. Now, he's living the high life.
That's what happens when you win Eastern Conference Player of the Week and lead a fledgling New York Knicks team to six wins in a row.
No longer "homeless," Lin reportedly sublet a plush two-bedroom apartment in White Plains, New York. According to Barry Paddock and Corky Siemaszko of New York Daily News, the location of Lin's new digs isn't too shabby:
"[It's in] the Trump Tower in downtown White Plains, a 35-story building right off Main St. that’s home to several other Knicks players and some New York Rangers as well. It’s the same two-bedroom apartment that another Knicks star, Amar’e Stoudemire, rented before he moved into his palatial pad in Manhattan, sources said.
"
Lin has superstar level popularity at this point, so the perks and privileges are only going to get bigger. His lifestyle is going to change, as well as his responsibilities and expectations.
It won't be long before fans start to critique his performances harder, and expect more and more out of him. As great as he has played, Lin still turns the ball over a ton. During his six-game run, he's averaging five turnovers per game.
If the Knicks hit a prolonged snag, and those numbers are the same, you better believe it will be mentioned as a factor.
That is unfortunately the way people are. Many of us look to build people up as a great story, only to find a bigger story in tearing them down.
Lin is going to find out that with this mega popularity comes a huge amount of scrutiny and a lot less privacy.
Gone are the days when he could walk down the street in relative obscurity.
Everybody knows who he is now. His Twitter follower count is proof of that. As of the publishing of this article, it stood at just over 280,000. That is almost triple what it was before his six-game run.
Hopefully, he is the type of person that can handle the pressure and attention.
He's done a fabulous job so far, but this is just the beginning.
