WrestleMania 28: Is the WWE Relying Too Much on Part-Time Talent?
After this past edition of Raw, our top matches for WrestleMania are set.
John Cena vs. The Rock, Triple H vs. The Undertaker, CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho and Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan will be the matches selling the show.
While this looks like a fantastic card, which it definitely is, there is one glaring problem: only one of these matches features the true future of this company.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan for the World Heavyweight Championship is the one match that fits the category. Both of these guys are on the road week in and week out, and their hard work will be rewarded at the biggest show of the year.
What about the other three matches?
Trips vs. Taker is a no-brainer, as this could very well be the last match for either man. If that is not the case, then there are only a couple left in the tank for each man, at most. Now is the time to cherish the entrances of both men—particularly The Undertaker's. Soon, we may not be seeing that type of eerie entrance anymore.
John Cena vs. The Rock has been building for about a year now, but what happens after WrestleMania is over? Like Cena said this past week, once April 9th hits, Rock will be back to shooting movies. Sure, he says he will be involved with WrestleMania XXIX from Metlife Stadium, but how often will he be back?
Finally, there is CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho. This match represents the present state of the WWE: Punk is the champ and the top face in the company, while Jericho is the veteran returning to claim what is his. Still, there have been rumors about just how long Jericho is going to stick around. Will he be gone in the summer? And if not, how much time does Y2J have left as an in-ring performer?
At WrestleMania XXVIII, part-time and outside talents like The Rock, Triple H, The Undertaker and Chris Jericho will be taking the spotlight in place of Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston and Cody Rhodes. Although the buys will most likely be over one million again, the WWE also needs to make an effort to ensure high buy rates for future shows.
What does this mean for these young talents? They need to thrive in the limited time they are given at the show. More viewers will buy the show because of guys like The Rock, but in order for them to stick around, wrestlers like Ziggler and Rhodes need to be remembered.
So to answer the title question, yes, the WWE is relying too much on wrestlers who are not full-time performers. This greater exposure, however, will put more eyes on the future of the company. Even though the top of the card is already crowded, sufficient time in the undercard must be given to the men who will be in the main event in the next couple of years.
Who will be in the main event of WrestleMania XXX? If the young guys can put on a great performance come April 1st, it will be them in the spotlight sooner rather than later.
