Tiger Woods: Wrist Injury Will Not Affect Woods at Pebble Beach
Tiger Woods hurt his right wrist at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am tournament during Friday's second round, and it's an injury he needs to be careful with since this is a very important year in his career.
Wrist injuries can become quite bothersome if they are not treated well, and they can affect everything from your swing on tee shots, from the fairway and even putting.
Woods cannot afford to have his status for the Masters put in doubt because of a wrist injury, so if I were him, I would take it extremely easy at Pebble Beach this weekend.
Woods addressed the injury after the second round, saying via the Golf Channel, “It hurt like hell when I did it,” he said. However, Woods didn't seem to concerned about the injury though, saying “Once I popped it back in, it was good,” he explained. “It was just a joint. No big deal.”
Woods hurt his wrist trying to get his ball out of a divot hole on the par-four eighth, but was able to finish the round well with a two-under 68 to make the cut in 17th place.
The injury doesn't seem to be a real issue right now, but it will be interesting to see how it feels in the morning when Woods wakes up, and when he is playing Saturday in the third round.
Woods has suffered through knee and Achilles injuries since winning the 2008 US Open, and cannot afford to suffer another setback in a very important year for him.
He is just starting to find his game and is putting some impressive rounds together, so Woods needs to keep up this momentum.
This is a tournament Woods is under no pressure to win, which means he doesn't need to try as hard and potentially bother the wrist further, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be cautious with it.
