WWE Smackdown Results: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
I enjoyed WWE Smackdown tonight. It was not the greatest show of all time, but it was an entertaining two hours. If I had to grade the episode, it would fall in the C range. Nothing terrible. Nothing amazing.
I have no comment on the match that was cut from Smackdown. If a segment doesn't air on WWE TV, I don't care to discuss it.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
I loved the opening segment! It is about time Mark Henry was written off WWE TV. This move was about two months overdue, however. Teddy Long should have suspended him in December to rest up. Thank you! Get some rest, big man, you deserve it.
Sheamus vs. Cody Rhodes was fine. The right man won, and both men did a good job. I have discussed time and time again—Sheamus just needs to keep winning. Every show. Every week. No matter the match!
Justin Gabriel vs. Hunico never took place, but I was fine with the reason why. Rhodes was still at ringside fuming over his loss, so he attacked Gabriel before the match even began.
Of course, the heels took advantage and put to the boots to Justin. Who made the save? The Great Khali! He cleaned house and stood tall, as Smackdown had the former World Champion and future WWE Hall of Fame performer back!
Santino Marella and Jim Duggan lost to Epico and Primo. The tag match was short, but Hacksaw more than held his own. Santino continues to lose while looking for just the right partner in the ring.
I enjoyed the backstage segment with Natalya and Beth Phoenix. It will get a laugh out of the PG audience, and maybe this will get Nattie over? Being just a "great wrestler" has not worked for the past few years, so it is time to try something new.
I loved the Wade Barrett vs. Randy Orton main event. The right man won, as faces should (almost) always come out on top. This was WWE's way of closing this feud. Orton stood tall, as he should have.
Wade will be just fine. This does absolutely nothing to hurt him, despite what others are surely going to say. The parts with Daniel Bryan watching were also very interesting. Thumbs up, final segment!
Finally, my "it" girls also had a pretty good night. Aksana is always entertaining backstage with Teddy Long. The same can be said about Rosa Mendes ringside during the tag match. Wow! Once again, folks, she is the true star of the division right now.
Nattie and Beth Phoenix crushing Aksana and Tamina was fine. Kharma is waiting for Beth at WrestleMania, so the heels need to start winning until then. Tamina got some revenge afterwards, but nothing will overshadow Aksana having yet another nice performance inside the squared circle!
The Bad
I just could not get into the Daniel Bryan segment. I am sorry, but it featured too many rules I am against in the wrestling business.
First, Michael Cole looked sympathetic here. That can't happen again. Cole looked like a "face" in this situation, and there is no defending that. Next time, just have Bryan come out—without Cole.
Secondly, I think they can keep the vegan/meat aspect out of the story. I understand he is trying to play up being a "role model," but this was too much. Same with CM Punk being straight edge. You can mention it in passing, but devoting an entire segment to the lifestyle? No thanks.
Last but not least, Big Show just took him out with no problem whatsoever. Bryan looked extremely weak once again. I know he is the heel that always sneaks away with the gold, but I can't remember the last time he looked strong (and like a legit World Champion). Ask Christian how his title reign went...
I did like the AJ conclusion, though. She seems to be in the corner of Bryan, but you just never know in WWE. The ending was fine, but the rest of the segment made this hard to get through.
The Ugly
I think it is time for another public service announcement.
I have my opinions. Everybody else has their own. I am fine with that. Fans will never agree on every single topic. It just is not possible.
Yes, it is just opinions, but there is a way to voice them. Using foul language is not the way. Threatening to "never watch again" is not the way to go about it. Complaining and sending offensive messages to the talent on Twitter?
I just don't understand this. I am as positive as they come in life, so maybe I am out of bounds here? How do fans follow the product this way? I couldn't do it week after week, month after month, year after year.
Of course, the topic of "anger" this week was the Great Khali entering the Chamber match. If you disagree with the move, fine. I want to know why. In a civilized manner.
As for me, I am fine with the decision. Khali was fine a few years ago in the Elimination Chamber, and I expect the same again. On top of that, there was no other choice in my mind.
Christian? No thanks. I would rather see him return with a purpose. You want to see him return, added to the match to be eliminated early and sent to the back? I would certainly rather he return with more excitement than that!
Ted DiBiase? I think he is still injured, and everybody knows my stance on safety.
Hunico? Too early. He is slowing growing on me, but I see nothing coming of an appearance on PPV later this month.
Brodus Clay? He is on Raw, first of all. Also, why have him lose already? I do not even want to see him knocked off his feet for at least another month, much less take a loss on PPV a month after returning!
Khali will be fine in the match. He will be back for a month or two. Collect a nice payday, get some nice publicity for the company in India and head back home. No harm, no foul.
