WWE Smackdown: There Is No Reason for Christian to Return Right Now

Let me make a few notes first:

1. I am a fan of Christian.

2. He is a future WWE Hall of Fame inductee and was a deserving two-time (TNA doesn't count) world champion in this business.

3. This is just my opinion! Nobody else's but mine.

That being said, I really can't see where he would fit in with the Blue Brand right now. He had a nice role back in the fall. There is no denying that.

He lost the World title and moved into a feud with Sheamus. That was a great move. He put over Sheamus like a million bucks and helped the Celtic Warrior's big face turn even more. More importantly, Sheamus picked up victories and over Christian really meant something. Kudos to both men!

However, he soon found himself in the middle of the pack, waiting for something to "come up." Who was there to feud with? What was next for Christian? When was his next opponent going to appear on SmackDown?

So many questions...

The answer was simple: Christian simply had nothing to do with real meaning. Again, I am a fan of Christian, but it was true. He was just "another wrestler" involved with wanting to get rid of Triple H in power on Raw. Well, that quickly faded out. Then what?

He, Cody Rhodes, Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger just stood in the ring with Vickie Guerrero cutting promos. Not exactly a long-term project if you ask me.

That is why this time off has been a blessing in disguise. When he comes back, it will be a new start for him.

Hopefully, he stays heel. He has always played a "bad guy" better. However, I hope he moves on from his "one more match" gimmick. That was played out real quick, and since it was never going to have a conclusion, it was pointless.

That is why he needs to return with a purpose. Christian just returning for the sake of it is not what I want to see. He needs to be given a reason to show up again on SmackDown!

Right now, I do not see it. What is there to do? WWE has tons of heels right now all doing a wonderful job. Christian (like in the fall) would just be floating around with no rhyme or reason each week.

On the television side, he has also not been missed one bit. It may hurt to say, but numbers do not lie. SmackDown's rating have been just fine since he left months ago and even soared to a 2.2 rating this past week!

I am sure some will suggest a face turn. That is the answer to everything: turn them! That will solve everything...turn the wrestler. It may work in rare cases, but I really hope that doesn't happen here.

Christian just turned heel last year. Please do not turn again less than a year later! All he needs to do is be given a story line to return with.

If nothing comes up for another week, so be it. If nothing is written for Christian in the next month, so be it. If WWE has nothing for him in the next few months, so be it!

Bringing back a star like Christian with no set plans is just doing more harm than good...
